And, I don't think I ever heard the answer as to WHY they smell like fish! I haven't tried them yet because of this little fact! Does anyone know?

Shirataki noodles do stink a bit. Well a lot in my opinion.

Drown them in Soya sauce, add a dash of Japanese wasabi horseradish, and let the wooshie fairy visit the day after.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not that smart. Then again, I do have this look ....

Actually, thinking about this. My brain is my 2nd most favourite organ.

Ok, do I rinse them first? I heard some say to repeatedly boil/rinse? I'm going to use Lyssie's recipe. Of course, I still need a kitchen to make them since they need boiling so it will have to wait a while.

Soy sauce and wasabi sounds simple and yummy too.

i rinse them a few times... leave them to soak in cold water for a few minutes then boil them,

word of advice - do not smell them when you open them, you'll never want to eat them!

                    Re: Shirartaki Noodles

Shirataki noodles come from the roots of the Konjac plant.
(The Konjac plant is part of the yam family, I think I was told, maybe ??)

The roots are boiled down, and Hijiki seaweed is added, to get the high fibre "jelly" to congeal. This gluttonous mass is then extracted, just like mince meat is made from slab of cow.

Hijiki seaweed, although not the main ingredient of Shirataki noodles, smells of, can you guess? Dead fish.

You can buy Hijiki seaweed as a supplement in the UK. It will make your hair shiny I'm told.
