        Re: Ketosis Problem.

        Hayden,

Congratulations on your success so far.

You have been given excellent advise here. Something did catch my eye...........

Over the past nine days I have lost just under 2kg, but I have been going to the Sports Club every other day, and doing 90 minutes hard swimming each time.
I am sure that my weight loss has only been due to the swimming
        .

There is a real possibility that due to the fact you are doing a good amount of exercise, AND if you body is not used to this amount it is hanging on to everything you give it. Your muscles are not sure what is going on, so they hang on to make sure your going to keep feeding right and working out! Kind of a simplistic explanation, but it happens! How are your measurement? I am betting your losing inches right now.

          Re: Ketosis Problem.

          Thank you, Bren.

I have only started going to the Sports Club within the past 14 days. The last time before then was twice a couple of months ago, and before that, well over a year at least.

Reading what you're written makes perfect sense.

Maybe I have lost a bit in my girth. I've just checked, and even though I am wide open to positive suggestion at the moment, I think that, yes I have lost a bit of an inch.

          Interesting.

I know that Atkins is fat to carb ratio diet, and not a carb to protein diet. I read that somewhere on this board before, but I can't remember where.

Please can I request some more advice about this?

How can I find numbers about when the protein amounts become much?

Excess protein is converted to glucose. Where is the threshold?
Here are a few answers straight out of DANDR:

"I want you to be totally, shockingly unafraid of fat during these two weeks. Fat is much more ketosis-inducing than protein. After all, 58% of protein will become glucogenic amino acids, i.e., convertible to glucose, but only 10% of fat will become its glycerol portion, which is similarly convertible. The ease of getting into deep ketosis/lipolysis is based on the ratio of fat to carbohydrate."

PA stands for the state of Pennsylvania in the USA. This is the two-letter abbreviation for the purposes of mail delivery. Actually, the poster from PA still might not be from this planet, since there is a Mars, PA.
