  • A lesson learned

Hi all! I started Atkins on 8/26 (last Sunday). I promised myself I wouldn't step on the scale until I'd finished induction (9/9). I couldn't help myself so I had to find out if this WOE is working for me. I didn't feel any different in my clothes and I've been bloated. I hopped on the scale this am and I've lost 1lb . I thought wow what am I doing wrong? I haven't been cheating at all! Surely I should have lost more. Then it hit me. I can't eat meat without some kind of condiment like ketchup. I was smoothering my eggs and meat with carb filled ketchup! I thought it was ok until I read the label this morning. So getting on the scale was good thing in a way no ketchup for me until I"m off induction!

Hi Trisha. Great post! Cudos to you for stopping to figure out what you were doing that might be causing the problem. Have you taken your measurements? Thats an excellent way to track your success besides watching the scales. Inches seem to melt away a little faster than the numbers on the scale move.

Try not to get discouraged if you've only lost a pound. Pick up a pound of butter and you'll see just how impressive that '1' pound really is.

Don't beat yourself up over this. This WOE (way of eating) is a life-style change and we all learn as we go. Planning to succeed is a big step in making this WOE work for you and continue to work after you've reached goal.

At least it is a lesson you will remember! All the hard one's are. Remember to always read the label. You'd be surprised at what has sugar as an ingredient. Like products that shout SUGAR FREE on the front of the label. Sugar free Cool Whip's main ingredient is corn syrup--read liquid sugar--and it has more sugar grams and carbs than the regular Cool Whip. There aughta be a law!

I failed to notice where you are located, but in the USA, Heinz One Carb ketchup is sweetened with Splenda, but you still have to be careful, because tomatoes have a lot of natural sugar. 1 tablespoon has 1 carb.

      Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
