Where in the world do I find flax meal??

Went to a few local supermarkets and they didnt know what i was talking about?? Shaw's..had flax seed, no meal....

Its called Flax Seed Meal... I got mine at Farm Fresh in the Organic section....

You can also buy Flax Seed - generally found in the natural foods section or the baking isle at the grocery store. I use a coffee bean grinder and I grind my flax seed into meal myself. It's quite a bit cheaper to do it that way.

I also use that grinder to grind almonds into almond meal. Best $10 I ever spent.

I bought my flaxseed meal at Walmart in the same aisle as flour and baking products. It's a Hodgson's Mill brand.

If you have any stores that have "Bulk Bins", they will usually sell the flax seed whole. I buy it 5 lbs at a time, and I too grind it with a coffee grinder. It's a whole lot cheaper that way (I normally pay about $1 a pound), plus the ground flax tends to go rancid faster than the whole seeds.

BTW outside the USA it is usually called 'Linseed'!

In Southern California you can find it at Jimbos or at Trader Joes... just ask where it is and they'll help ya find it.... Jimbo's had an assortment of different kinds of Flaxmeal.

I bought a "flax seed powder" at Walmart in the vitamin area ~ pls tell me this is the same thing (it is not really powdery, it looks like meal).

If you are in New England, the bigger Shaw's do have it - in the health food section. They've got a whole bunch of holistic type baking products. I just picked it up at the Groton Shaw's last week.

I bought a big bucket of golden flax seed from a local food co-op. It was less than half the price of getting it in bulk at Wild Oats. Like Brook, I use a little coffee mill and grind some up every morning, stir it into water and drink it. If you don't grind it too much it doesn't get a chance to be slimey. Sure, I could make muffins like I used to, but I don't seem to have the time anymore, and I'm going to be cutting out fat since I can't lose weight like I did before.

The golden flax is milder and better tasting than the dark stuff. Have fun and good luck!
