    Hey Chris.

I'm an avid Fitday enthusiast. I actually use FitdayPC rather than Fitday online. It has a lot more features and is more customizable so far as graphs and views are concerned.

I keep track of everything in Fitday - from my measurements monthly, to my weight daily, to my moods daily, to everything I put in my mouth and I journal almost daily in it as well.

Not only does it allow me to see negative patterns, but more importantly, it allows me to see patterns of success!

You using FitdayPC or Fitday online, Chris?

        Whatcha need help with?

Honestly, the first month or so of using Fitday can be a real pain in the . Once you've got all the foods you eat entered in as custom foods, then it's a breeze to continue to use them.

I forgot, I also use Fitday to track my workouts and calorie targets.

Re: How do you benefit from using fitday?

i use fitday on my pc.....i will figure it all out at some point i guess. i told you i started a journal right....i would love it if you could put some of your exercise routines in there.

today i raked leaves for 80 minutes....that wqas exercise enough. yesterday i went to local tennis courts....and i filled four water bottles and did wind sprints....like shuttle runs, those are pretty intense workouts. have you heard about my other self-imposed fitness challenge?

i take off sundays, had to make that executive decision!! but on monday through saturday, you know i figure i enjoy posying here so much that i have made it a requirement for me to do 8 pushups per post!!!!! i just started on november 13th with this idea. tuesday through saturday i did 276 pushups....and i will resume again tomorrow morning.

i did a little calculation......dividing 365 (days of the year) by 5 days @ 275 pushups......if i could continue at this pace.....that would be almost 20,000 pushups over the next year!!!!!

for guys its different you know, we want to lose weight but we crumble when we consider that we will also lose a tremendous amount of strength with a large weight loss. so, these pushups will keep me honest....and i wont lose too much strength i am a typical guy in that i have worked very hard to develop my arms and chest in a gym....and i just dont want to lose that size and strength, but....i do want to lose weight.

i dont know if you can fully understand the male perspective on these issues....

Re: How do you benefit from using fitday?

Fitday is easy enough to figure out and set up. Like I said, it's just time consuming at first, but once that's done, it's super easy to use.

For the exercse - 80 minutes of raked leaves, I'd enter it into FidayPC as "raking lawn" - 80 minutes. It'll calc that into your daily totals for calorie expenditure. Pretty slick, really. If you haven't customized your "My Metabolism", be sure you do and be honest. It's easy to tweak the numbers to get them to say what we want them to say, but that's hardly productive!

Be sure to set up your profile, your metabolism, your weight goal, and make sure it's set to track your fiber intake.

When on the Food Log screen, click on the arrow next to the View icon (not View along the top, but the eye) and poke through that to get it to look the way you want it to look and divide things up the way you want them. Mine is seperated into breakfast/morning snack/lunch/afternoon snack/dinner/late snack/ etc. You can even customize it down to whether you were eating alone or not, where you were eating and why!!

So far as my exercise routines go, I don't imagine you'd be really interested in what I'm doing these days I'm doing Jazzercise 5-6 days a week (combo of dance-ish cardio - heart pumping stuff/ and weight training) plus karate twice a week.

Cool idea about the pushups/posts! Rock-on with your bad self!

The truth is that with any WOE there's going to be some muscle loss. The good news is that on Atkins the muscle loss is considerably less than it is on low-fat ways of eating. Aside from that, if you're following the plan as written and doing your exercise you're going to be building a lot more than you lose anyway - so it's a win/win deal! People will use any excuse to cop out and not dig in and do what needs doing. If you're gonna knock this out successfully, you're gonna have to work on building muscle and cardio endurance and keep the eating clean. It just is what it is!!

Understand the male perspective? Well, I dunno about all that. I know that I'm as interested in maintaining/gaining muscle and losing fat as the next guy anyway!

                Ha! No worries!

I *do* have a ton of catching up to do, but unfortunately, it's going to have to wait. I have a truck showing up here in about 10 minutes to drop off 7 tons of salt! Off to go direct that and I'll catch ya later!
