Week of December 10 Atkinites!!

    Hello everyone,

    Been a few days since I posted. I wanted to let you know I am still on the atkins bandwagon! I gave in the last couple days and I've sipped on some vodka with Jones soda (with splenda) I think I have to cut out ALL splenda for now, my body seems to completely stall with it, that and the alcohol I'm up 3 lbs. So 11 lbs loss now but again, this could be water retention, it could just be normal fluctuations, I don't know? Either way I'm cutting it out for now. I also need to get my butt back to tracking everything I put in my mouth on FitDay, this helps me to feel like I'm sticking on track and doing everything I can to lose this weight. Its a pain to run to the computer after everything I eat, but hey I usually do anyway so how hard is it to go to fitday.com
    My hubby is enjoying the meals I have been preparing. Tonight for dinner we are having this. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/italian_meatball_bake.html It looks and smells sooo good. I'll let you all know how it was!!
    I am still keeping up with my exercise, so that feels good. Hubby definately noticed changes in my face and body in the 6 weeks he was gone to now. So that made me feel proud. He also lost 10-15 lbs while working and looks good too.

    Hmm what else is new. Well, I am major struggling with all the holiday goodies out. I have a killer sweet tooth and shopping just kills me. I go home mega B y everytime!! I'm just so tired of being fat that I don't see any other way but doing what I'm doing now (atkins WOL) so I'm sticking to it. This is a lifestyle change that can only bring better. Who said it will always be easy?

    Brian---- Wonderful to see you back. Please send me a PM when you have a chance, I think we have some catching up to do!!

    Bekka---- Congratulations on passing your test! You must feel so proud! I'm also sorry to hear you're dealing with family BS, that's never fun!! I got my fair share of that over here too. Anyway, if you want to talk, I'm here.

    Well, thats all I can think of for now. Later on I think I'll add a journal on here, so watch for that. Hope you all are doing fabulous. Everyone ready for Christmas???!?!

      Hi everyone,

      Bekka ... hold on it is growing pains ... you and your dad. You will get through it and you will laugh at it all. Familys concern can get the best of us all sometimes.

      Congrats anyways for passing your test.

      Okay ... I have been reading the atkins website and got some more understanding.

      I am restarting again the induction ... I am going to get through 7 days and then go the next seven days. I have been keeping up my excersises but have been cheating big time on heating.

      Here is my day one menu ....

      What is PISS and what is the deal with Cream .. on the site Dr. A said we can have heavy cream, so why do I see post saying no cream and or whipped cream. What is the deal?

      Beverage will be water and crystal light - 0 carbs.

      I am committed to a week of induction ... then we will go from there. Monday 12/17 - Sunday December 23 ... I can do this.

        daione, I hope you do well in your induction.. I am sure you will.

        I myself started induction early this week not because I cheated or anything, it is just because I haven't been loosing much as I was expecting. It can be because of different reasons really, most importantly I think my blood pressure medication and my GERD (Acid Reflex) medication..

        I originally thought Dr. Atkins didn't recommend staying on induction, but when I reread the OWL chapter, he actually recommended extending induction for people with high metabolic resistance. So, I decided early this week to do just that. Been 6 days already and I can feel the difference already.

        I was hoping I can move to Rung-3 (nuts) & Rung-4 (Fruits) soon since I LOVE nuts and fruits, but I guess it is OK.. All we need is some work and patience..

          Thanks Einy ... did a lot better too day. except I went crazy on the gum. But I am sure that I was at my 20 carbs or close to it because i did not eat that much salad at all.


          Here is what I ate.
          Breakfast: Hardees bowl -5 carbs
          Lunch: small salad 6 I am sure it was less than 9 /hot dog 1.2

          Gum - 11 sticks - 11 carbs
          crystal light 0 carbs
          Hardees low carb burger - 7 carbs
          bit of chicken breast 0 carbs
          30.2 carbs.

          Tomorrow I will eat
          2 srambled eggs
          3 piece turkey bacon
          2 turkey sausages

          Lunch
          salad
          baked chicken breast

          Dinner
          chicken breast
          caulf/brocolie

          Jello
          April

            Be careful on the gum I would say, most of these have menthol, which can stall you big time. The other thing is that, you need to make sure you get at least 60% of your carbs from veggies. I cannot see much of that in your diet.

            I have weighed myself today.. Slashed good 5lbs in one week redoing induction.. I think this is VERY good. It is my biggest week loss since I started Atkins.

            Week 1 (induction-20g carbs) --> -4lbs
            Week 2 (induction-20g carbs) --> -4lbs
            Week 3 (OWL-1-25g carbs) --> -3 lbs
            Week 4 (OWL-2-25g carbs) --> 0 lbs
            When I stopped losing weight, returned back to induction right away..
            Week 5 (induction-20g carbs) --> -5 lbs

            I couldn't wear my original size-46 pants by mid of week-3 and had to buy size-44 pants which was just about right. Now size-44 is considerably loose, but not planning to buy a size-42 yet.. May till I loose 15lbs more.. We are getting there..

              Yea I did not buy any gum this morning. I am scared to get too many veggies in because it looks like there is so many carbs in there. But I will eat more of them.

              Okay day 2 .... coffee is calling my name but I won't go.

                You need your veggies! Once you subtract the fibre most veggies have an acceptable amount of carbs. I find I can easily fit my induction veggies in plus an extra 5 grams of carb veggies and still not be at 25 carbs for the day. Veggies are central to doing Atkins and not eating them is not doing Atkins! Plus 11 grams in carbs in gum is providing none of the nutrients your body needs and could stall your weight loss big time.

                  Thanks everyone. I am staying away from the stores ... so I won't touch the gum. I just have this ache to chew or have something crunchy. I am getting ready to eat my cucumbers. I had to get some coffee .. i am falling a sleep at my desk. I am trying to work out in the mornings .. only problem is after I work out I get really relaxed and sleepy. I have to retrain my body not to go to sleep after working out. I did my abs this morning and 25 min on the treadmill and it is like a killer sleeping pill.

                    I know what you mean about these gums, they are very tempting I know.. I used to chew many of these before starting Atkins. And each time I make tuna salad or so on breakfast, I get tempted to chew one to clean my breath.. but staying away from them is better. It was clearly mentioned by Dr. Atkins in his book.

                    As for getting sleepy, I think this is normal, you body is still adopting to your exercise patterns, just give it sometime and you will start feeling energetic soon.

                      Well, 7 days in the books with day 8 almost down. I seem to be doing pretty well this "go round" although I must admit I have had some extra help along the way. I have also been grubbing on veggies like a madman which is something I didn't do before. I know its not the Atkins way, but I am not keeping track of my veggie carb intake at all. I watch my other carb intakes pretty close and have kept those at or below 10 per day. I have been only eating veggies that are high in fiber though.

                      Daina, Gald you are still fighting the good fight, and Einy keep on rollin my man you are doing awesome. By now Bekka should be done with her semester so hopefully things will calm down for her. Oh and thanks to you know who for keeping me honest and on track.

                        okay cheat free for 2 days. yesterday not a good day. Today will be a good day I am going to make it soo. Well I was so down and something said ... forget it .. you can't do this. YOu are just going to be fat girl for the rest of your life. Then .. I said ... no ... i can't stop ... I mess up okay, i just can't stop.

                        I got on the scale this morning .. I lost another 4lbs. WOW! How cool is that? Then I was going to wear my blue suit and it is way too big I had to put on another outfit. I was going to try and wear the belt with it and the belt is big. How cool is that.

                        YOU GUYS I AM SUPPER HYPE! THIS DIET REALLY WORKS. IT REALLY WORKS. EVEN WITH ALL MY MESS UP .. NOT ENCOURAGING ANYONE TO MESS UP ... BUT IT STILL WORKS. HOW COOL IS THIS WOE!

                          Just wanted to report that I lost 9 pounds over the last week. Some of that is inflated though as I had been cheating for about 4 days before that. So maybe a net loss of 5 lbs or so. However, it is progress and it does feel good. I have no clue why I am losing weight this time. The only things I have changed are that I have not been eating mushrooms ( I was eating about one portabella a day), taking a different vitamin and am eating a lot more veggies. Who knows, who cares! Just going to keep trucking along until I hit *PISS* Thanks for sticking with me everyone. Daina-excellent job on sticking to it. I to have really struggled with faltering. Go back and look at the old journals of some of the regulars on here. A lot of them failed early and often but stuck with it and were eventully able to create new habits. We will get there.

                            Daione - good job on the losses. If you are able to stick to plan you'll lose even more. You mentioned that Atkins works even with your cheats but consistently cheating is not doing Atkins. I know for me if I cheated every few days my losses would stop all together and I would gain.

                            futurerancher - good job on the loss. 9 pounds is great! I found when I started eating more veggies my losses really picked up.

                                Thanks Einy, I had a real close one last night as I rented a movie. In the past, renting a movie ment that I gorged on ice cream and Pizza. It was kind of like the old Pavlov dog thing. As soon as I rented the movies the cravings fired up big time. I slighlty gave in and ate a bag of pork rhines. I didn't kill off Ketosis but my colon has been screaming at me since. Whew, won't do that again. At least I am clearing out my system!

                                I am going out to luch today with the boss. Hopefully I can maintain control at the Restaurant.

                                How is everyone else doing today. I am getting worried about Richard and Bekka as we haven't seen them in a while. Hope all is well.
