  • Atkinites: Week of Christmas

    Good evening everyone.

Time to start a new thread for a brand new week. I know I neglected to do this last week, but that was due to the circumstances which I stated in the previous thread. It's very hard, and I mean, extremly hard to get away from carbs once you start giving in to them again. I don't want to see how much I have gained from my 2 weeks of eating junk food and carbs. No way in **** will I get on the scale until next week. I think I will wait til Wednesday and do it with you guys then, just to check to see where I am at in this game.

I do admit that I have screwed up and I figured out why. I get lazy when I have worked so hard on something and then, I eventually just give up on it, thinking it won't hurt me. But from what I have experienced, I can most certainly tell that I have hurt my body from eating all that sugar and carbs. They aren't good for me, they are the enemy and I have to defeat them every single day. I know I may sound hypocritical when I say the next part, but...

Guys, if you feel like you are going to give up, just come on here and someone will snap you out of it. I should have done that when I fell into that temptation, but I didn't. I was too much of a coward to face the disappointment from others. Don't be a coward, be strong and come on here and admit to it. In the end, it will be well worth it because you will be back on track losing weight. I hope that makes any sense.

Well, we got one more week til its the 1st of the year. I'm going to start going to the gym. I might head on over there tomorrow and walk on the treadmill or something like that. I think I should join a mile challange and do so many miles in a month...I'll figure out what I am capable of doing with all the time that I do have. Of course, most of the time needs to be dedicated to studying for my National Registry. Meep. I am so nervous about it.

I think I can do about 2 miles of walking about every other day, so 30 miles of walking for the month of January sounds fine to me.

And I'll go back to doing those crunches, but using the machine at the gym to do it, and see how hard it really is. I'll let you guys know tomorrow. =)

And 10 wallups a day, as well, and I think that will be it.

    What about you guys?

    Re: Atkinites: Week of Christmas

I understand the getting lazy part. I haven't blown it yet, but I get really tired of constant cooking and doing dishes-----especially the doing dishes. I know cooking and eating fresh is better for me, no question, but I do miss the ease of prepared food. I contemplated breaking down and getting a microwave, but I haven't reached that point yet.

      Re: Atkinites: Week of Christmas

For me, been really good since I started and haven't cheated (yet) My main problem is exercise.. been so lazy there. I even pledged 80 miles biking for the month of December, which I know is nothing.. I used to do almost twice as much in a single week... What's even worse is that I couldn't get more than 25 miles done so far.. I can always come up with different execuses like, weather, holiday time, been busy at work.. bla bla bla.. execuses never end, and when you want to be lazy you can always come up with a good execuse.

Well, anyway, I think I need to get my act together and start doing somthing really. I am so determined to do at least 10-20 minutes a day of some TV/DVD workouts.. These can be really good. So, lets see how it works for Jan.

        Re: Atkinites: Week of Christmas

Man, I tried to do 2 miles of walking/running today and I couldn't even make it to two miles!! -.- I only did 1 mile of walking and some running, which is a good start considering I haven't been to the gym in the longest time ever. Oy, my legs hurt even more now.

I'm glad to be back, even though it feels like I am starting all over again. Its not too bad. I'm sticking with OWL rung 1 for a while until I start noticing differences again and all that jazz. I'm cooking some artichokes and barbequing a steak right now. Ooooh, lunch is going to be...amazing. =)

Anyway, how are all you guys doing? I've missed you so much!!

Today was ok for me.. spent most of it at work.. Not much exercise, but planning to start something in a bit and some crunches before going to bed as well.

As for food today.. not much there.. Had a breakfast and lunch just because I needed to have these part of the WOE.. but my appetite is almost gone..

I can't wait til I get back to the stage where I don't have much of an appetite.

Try induction friendly cookies with flaxmeal....amazing. =) Even my mom and dad liked them. lol. My dad is afraid of fiber somehow...I don't get it. He's also a hypocrite, telling me he is on induction, yet he eats bread and whatever else....I don't get it.

                  Goodmorning you guys. =)

It seems so strange that only a couple of people post in our thread nowadays. Where is Brian, Kristen, Todd and everyone else? I really miss them too. =(

This will be a quick post since I wasted my first 45 minutes of this morning playing an online MMORPG. Ya....Its starting to get addicting, and I have no idea why that is. lol. At least its better than being addicted to something else, you know?

Anyway, wooo, man, that flax cookie did wonders for me this morning. Heh heh. I know, TMI, but hey, its all good. Umm, I have to get ready for work after I post in my journal, so I'll check up on you guys later. See ya!!

                    Re: Atkinites: Week of Christmas

Can't wait till I get these cookies done. I am watching my carbs really close though since I am considered high metabolic resistant. Although I am in OWL1 now, I am trying to stay below 20 carbs/day. Wondering if I can replace the splenda with Sweet & Low (Saccharin), will the structure of the sweetener change when it gets microwaved? The good thing about saccharin is that there is no carb count there for the sweetner. Still the regular 3 packs/day limit though.

I will try them tonight and let u know how it goes...

                          Re: Atkinites: Week of Christmas

Christmas was a hard time for resisting food and I am glad it is over. I only cheated once with a piece of cake and I paid for it with a horrible headache the next day. Luckily I still lost some weight but remembering how I felt after the cake will keep me on the straight and narrow from now on.

                            Aww, thanks Inky. =)

And the holidays are the worst! I would have to agree with you on that one. There are so many temptations out there and all I have to say is that we have to be strong and stick together in order to make it past the new year. -.-

I am 3 days cheatfree. =) Yayness! And I look less bloaty in the mirror now, so that is a very good thing. I also took a sneak peak on the scale that I don't weigh myself on and it read 208, so that's not as bad as I thought it would be. =) Only 4 more pounds til I am at the weight I was before I cheated. =/ I can do it!!

So, I won't be at home until tomorrow, but I will remain faithful, just so you guys know that. =) I'll be thinking about you when I eat.

Best of luck to you all and I hope you stay safe! Catch ya on the flip side. =)

P.S- Cutting fruit is evil. I had to grab a sugar free candy from eating the fruit I was cutting and it helped. =P I'll just have water this time since I will only be there for 4 hours.

                            Bye guys!!

                              Re: Atkinites: Week of Christmas

Today the people at work was really commenting on my weight loss and asked how I was doing it. I told them that it was low-carb and then they kept asking questions and I told them that it was Atkins and they wanted me to tell them all about it. I sent them the link and some information on Atkins. But one of the girls came back and asked if atkins was the diet where that guy died and isn't it not safe. So I doubt she will do it. I explained to her that it is not an unsafe diet and that you just have to be sure to follow the rules of atkins. The girl said thank you. But they are really convinced and inspired by the weight loss they see on me.

Christmas was my worst day so far as far as cheating goes. But that is okay .. I have a vision.
