    Re: Swede

I eat swede quite a lot (I LOVE it!). It makes great 'french fries' and hash browns. Like you couldn't find nutrient content easily, but I did eventually. I can't remember where I found it, but this is what I have in Fitday, where I entered it as a custom food:

Per 100g (or 3.5oz, which is not a lot, swede is heavy!)

    Calories: 14
    Fat: 0.3g
    Total Carbs: 4.4g
    Fibre: 1.9g
    Protein: 0.3g

when using fitday use the word "Rutabaga" instead, thats what the americans call swede.

          Re: Swede

Just a note of caution for anyone on Induction Phase reading this thread. A rutabaga or "yellow turnip" is not the same vegetable as the "turnip" listed on the Induction Acceptable Foods list. That turnip is also known as the "white turnip" or the "purple top white" turnip.

Thanks everyone .. you've been a great help. I love Swede too Kate, it's my most favourite vegetable and I was going to have it instead of mashed potato on my shepherds pie .. never thought to make chips with it though, I'm definately going to give that ago.. yum yum.
