I can relate. For me, I'm tall and large framed so I can pack on weight and no one would guess that I weigh what I weigh because I'm not the type that gets cellulite and wide hips. But, you know yourself and you know where you feel comfortable and you know when you're 50, 100 pounds over so it doesn't matter how they view you.

I have had it happen to me. I have actually had it happen both ways. I gained a lot of my weight due to being sick and being on steroids then I got a sedentary job at home (medical transcription) but when I started getting out and working outside the home, I was treated very poorly and the only reason I could think of was because I had gained so much weight. And what is funny, I was treated the worst in Mississippi which is pretty much the fattest state in the union!

To be honest, I think it's because so many people become fixated on a number. Maybe your family members are really concerned. As many people have pointed out, most of our friends and family haven't seen us thin in a long long long time if not ever.

I think the key to losing weight and being healthy is to not get fixated on a number; rather, it's about looking at your progress and feeling healthy and good about yourself.

My goal is 105 and my family thinks it's too low of a number. I'm only 5 feet tall, so it wouldn't be too low of a number. However, 105 is not set in stone. That's what I used to be and what I would like to be once again, but I definitely do not want to look rail thin so if I have to adjust to higher number than I will

By the way, I go out of my way to compliment curvier women. That's not to say I don't give compliments to thin women, either. But the truth of the matter is that those curvy women are probably more self-conscious of their bodies. I know the heavier I am, the more self-conscious I become. But I do give compliments to my thin friends. They work out a lot and deserve a pat on the back.

maybe try telling them what you want to get your body mass index down to. . .

they'll either say wow, that's a really healthy lvl to be or they'll just look kinda confused at you. Either way you'll probably avoid hearing that annoying comment.
