aww thanks yall for all the amazing responses. I think im going to stick with water and homemade chicken broth. If i get to feeling to weak I may try and blend some veggies to make kinda like a homemade v8!! I'll let you all know how it goes thanks again!!
A true fast is no food and just water. This does not allow for broths, and liquified foods but thats just what I have been taught.
The religious reasons that these are done for are to promote awareness and such.
Im actually only doing broth becouse its my first time fasting... and im worried it will affect more alot more than I think.. I get really sickly if i go more than 7 hours without food.. and im more or less doing this as a precaution.. im going to try to focus on the religious aspect of the whole experience... (ex.praying..) more than food.
I know there's research out there about the starvation mode thing, what I vaguely remember is something like it takes 48 hours of fasting before your body starts to catabolize. There are a lot of LC people that I've met on other boards who do Intermittent Fasting - anywhere up to that 48 hours. There are also references to IF if you do a google search you'll find the Protein Power authors did it and Art DeVany among others. I personally do dailiy Intermittent Fasting of a plan called Fast-5 so I have an eating window of 5 hours and I fast the rest of that time. I find that it's brought countless benefits and I will probably do IF for the rest of my life. Combined with LC this is a powerful tool for health and weight loss - if you need that.
You might also google info on fasting or 'fasting for health' because I know there have been some studies/new stories out recently.
