Re: The Feb '08 Group Thread

The taco shells are easy, but use a lot of cheese so be very aware of your 3-4 ounce daily allowance!

I just nabbed a large frying pan and heated it to low/medium. Then I greased it with butter and tossed on enough shredded cheddar cheese to make a maybe 6" diameter circle. I let it begin to "burn" and tested it with a spatula frequently. Once it was safe to flip it over without it coming completely to pieces, I did that and hardened the other side. After that I just kept flipping until it was pretty much firm/crispy. The I folded it over into a taco shell shape and put it on a plate. It hardens a bit more as it cools.

Re: The Feb '08 Group Thread

Is this the thread for all the people that started in Febuary? If so, I'm in (started 2/5/0 and look forward to getting to know you all better.

I totally agree on the one new thing at a time thing. I remember someone saying it takes about a 20-30 days to build a new habit. I firmly believe that and really try to stagger any new habits and not feel deprived in anyway. This is a WOL and if I can't live with it and enjoy it, I won't stay with it. As for the candida diet, unless it's really sever I would try to do regular atkins and see if it starts to clear up on it's own. My entire system is changing from my skin to digestion etc. Once you move to owl the probiotics in kefer and natural yogurts might help as well. Is anyone else on OWL yet?

The cauliflower hash browns are here.

I had them again today soooo yummy!!! I'm on OWL, just rung 1 though. I don't know how long I'll stay here but there are so many veggies that I'd like to try so I might just up my carbs and stay here for at least 2 more weeks.

          Hi All!!

I just wanted to be a part of this board! It sounds great!! I feel like I have been having a lot of anxiety lately but I guess it's with this new WOL which I am loving but of course it's an adjustment!!!! I just think about what I am putting into my body A LOT maybe TOO MUCH!!!!

But I am happy becuase the sort of thing that would just send me to the fridge happened and I didn't eat! You may not believe this but I sent a quick email to someone yesterday venting about the number of mistakes that were coming back from my production team on my advertisements and I ACCIDENTALLY sent it to the head of the production team! Can you believe the stupidity of that!? I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else but I am mortified and not the type of person who would ever want someone to know that I was venting like that! Anyways, my point is, apart from getting that off my chest, was that that sort of stress and anxiety would normally send me to get a sugar filled coffee or a brownie or anything and I didn't! So there's a small silver lining!

Re: The Feb '08 Group Thread

Katie, I've TOTALLY had a moment like that. I was the Marketing Editor for a national magazine awhile back. I somehow ended up also merging into the unwanted position of personal assistant to the CEO. I ended up negotiating pricing between the CEO and the client for ad space all the time. One time, the CEO was being his usual PITA self and refusing to meet any deals this poor woman came up with. Out of blunt frustration, I emailed my boss back with, "Geezus christ, if you don't want her to be in the magazine you need to just tell her."

And then I accidentally sent it to the CLIENT and not my boss. YES! Somehow I managed to convince the client I merely meant we were concerned she might put her ads in an issue whose topics weren't best suited for her products and suggested other months to run in - and she believed me!! *phew*

Morning guys! Its a quieter thread since it moved - which confuses me since its linked in the old post. Where's Alien Monkey, Underdog, etc?!?

Managed to get a real breakfast in this morning. Fried two bacon slices and two eggs in some butter - yummy! Lunch is tuna with mayo, lettuce & cucumber.

Good morning everyone! Sounds yummy! I had 2 scrambled eggs with butter, jalapenos, onions, and a bit of shredded cheddar on top! Lunch is going to be left over chicken taco salad from dinner last night - 1 c. romaine, chopped chicken tenders with taco seasoning, homemade salsa, and a bit of sour cream and cheese. It was so amazing, and the kids loved it! I was surprised at myself lol.

Re: The Feb '08 Group Thread

Morning. Just got off that treadmill I'm having a roast beef sandwich for lunch from my leftover roast. I'm making it on the atkin rolls, I use two for one sandwich cause they are a bit too thin to cut for one. The rolls aren't half bad they taste better the next day, stored in tupperware in the fridge. Breakfast was a onion, zuchhini, mushroom and red pepper omelette with 2 oz of shredded cheddar, and a sausage. I couldn't finish it, and that felt good!!!

Homemade salsa sounds sooo yummy. Tupperware sells the seasoning for that, I wonder if it has sugar in it. I used to make my salsa homemade all the time, then I don't know what happened. I probably got lazy.

                          Whats in the Atkins rolls?

I bought taco seasoning a bit ago, checked it last night.. dextrose! DARN IT. So looks like I'll need to find another brand!

Why not make your own taco seasoning. Here is a great recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Taco-Se...-I/Detail.aspx I usually just put spices in as I go but the ratios look close to what I use.

At least you check before you use it. I'm always mid eating before I'm like this tastes like it has sugar, run check the label and I'm usually right. You wouldn't think stuff like taco seasoning would have sugar in it!!! It's not like it needs it.

I use Linda's taco seasoning. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/lindas_taco_seasoning.html I don't add the msg or xanthan gum. It doesn't turn out as thick but it still has a nice flavour.

The rolls are here http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6807 They were a little too eggy when I had them the first day but after sitting in the fridge they are pretty good!!

I was just going to post the link to make your own taco seasoning on Linda's website. It's actually pretty darn tasty. To me it's even better than that stuff in the packets.
