Post a menu for a start....

are you exercising? it could me muscle gain

are you due your period? could very easily be that also
(I gain 7 pounds when mine is due in!!)

For a loss, with a quick gain, its usually water retention, have you been getting enough this last couple of days? eat anything really salty yesterday?

      Hi

Ok yesterday i had 5 500ml water bottles, 3 rashers of bacon, tuna mayonnaise with my weighed portion of 60g spinach and 200g rocket, 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 strips of chicken breast, 110g cheddar cheese, 2 no carb sausages, scrambled eggs and 140g broccoli. What do you reckon? I feel absolutely demotivated today!

I havent done any exercise - im sorry to say! I havent got my period either! Im just at a total loss??

I reckon you have nowhere near enough fat.

Have you checked all the labels for added sugars? you'll be surprised!!

I cant work out gram sizes, I always go from the "cup" measurements, someone else will have to mention those...

I would totally blame your low fat content. 65% of your diet should be fat and at the moment i'd say its probably protein.

            Whats a "rocket" ?

Ok, to get a bit personal here....have you gone to the bathroom consistently? Too much cheese will block me up, and well, waste weighs, ya know? Your portions don't look out of line, so I can only think that the cheese caught up with you.

I was 'blocked up' for the first few days but i have 'been' Sunday and Monday which even i was a bit surprised about! This is why im so confused as to what has happened. maybe this diet just isnt right for me?

It's possible, however, if excessive carbs are what made you fat, it probably is, but needs fine tuning. Why not give it the full two weeks, all you lose is 14 days, and maybe your body will respond. I know there's at least one person on here with a long battle to lose....and now it's melting from her It could just be your body resisting!!

Don't give up so quickly, I second chick lady's advice. Give it the full 14 days to start and see how you are doing. In the meantime read these:

Why the Scales Can Lie- http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6737
                  and
Weight Loss Is Not Linear- http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ghlight=linear

Those two threads are SO helpful to me when I am feeling your same frustration!

A few other suggestions-- drink lots of water, go exercise, and put every single thing that goes into your mouth on fitday. I'm afraid nothing is going to make you lose as quickly as we all want to (I'd love to wake up tomorrow and be at goal!) but the truth is it takes a long time to get our bodies the way we want them to be. You've got to be in this for the long term, not a quick fix, or it won't work. You can totally do this! Just stick with it a while longer and keep posting here for support.

I agree with everyone here - I didn't lose many pounds for awhile - but DANG the difference when I took measurements!! Then woosh - I lost some weight.

Try taking out the cheese for a bit and see what happens. During my 1st 7 days induction I think I lost maybe a pound? But the last 7 days I lost more - wasn't huge (think 7 total)....but still.

You've received some good advice here. The way Atkins works, more so than most traditional diets, your weight will fluctuate a lot day to day. To truly gain two pounds in 24 hours, you'd have to eat 7,000 calories more than what your body requires. Clearly, you didn't do that, so it's not "real" weight. Give it a little more time. Overall, you will go down more than you go up -- THAT's the goal!

Firstly, can you let us have a little more info about yourself, to help us help you?
how tall are you, how much weight are you hoping to lose, what is your goal weight?

During the first 14 days of induction an 'average' expected loss is reckoned to be between 5% and 10% of the total loss hoped for.

So wait till the 15th day after you started and compare your total loss with the chart in DANDR to calculate your metabolic resistance to weightloss. this will help you decide whether to ocntinut on induction for as while or move to OWL and start expanding your food choices.

You seem not to be happy with your foods - what are you eating that you dont like? What DO you like to eat?

One reason I have been happy eating Atkins is that I love the food we allow ourself to eat and even when I was on induction (which I followed for about 18 months) I did not feel at all deprived, so it was easier to stay on plan.

Maybe some of us can help you work out ways of preparing the foods you CAN eat in a more appealing way and make you happier with the food choices?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: What am i doing wrong?!

I agree. And I think writing everything down would be a great idea, since it seems you already measure it out. You might be getting enough fat since you mentioned you load everything down with butter and mayo - but also remember sometimes you can go a little nuts, and mayo and butter are both roughly 100 calories per tablespoon (don't know the non-USA type measurements, sorry!)

I also suggest browsing the recipes section. I'm in Induction, and I eat things like fake mashed potatos (its cauliflower), cheeseburger quiches, spaghetti squash with "alfredo" sauce, etc. Atkins can be far more than meat-eggs-meat if you are willing to cook a bit and experiment! =)

I also say wait it out if you want to. I cheated one day with a cookie - and the next day the scale said I gained 2 lbs - which, scienticially, is impossible. And two days later, I was down 3. So its just about patience!

Re: What am i doing wrong?!

Another ditto on writing everything (at least in the beginning).

The VERY first time I did atkins, I was almost at the end of my 2nd week, and just like every other day, I walked into the bank with my doposit, picked up a dumb-dumb (sucker), and ate it while the cashier posted my deposit. All of a sudden, it hit me like a box of rocks....WHAT AM I DOING?!?!? It was such a habbit, I handn't even though twice about it. So writing down EVERY SINGLE little thing, will help.

That will also give the ADBB a better look at what might be stalling you.

The bowl movements is another one. Ummm, vitamins, help immensely with the process. And just looking for hidden carbs. At first, I was tricked when things said no added sugar, or sugar free - I though I was a-ok. So wrong! Gotta read the packages carefully, because our bodies know the difference.

And please...give it 7 more days. I beg you, you'll see a breakthrough, and when you do, it'll all be worth it.
