Elizellen, Thank you!! I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it meant! I've been trying to come up with everything I could with the letters NSF! Not Sugar Free? No Silly Fatty? Not Something Frozen?

If there is, I don't know where it is, I just fiddled with it until I figured some things out. Like I had the hardest time finding bell peppers but they were under sweet peppers, things like that threw me.

I dont have the programme on my work computer so cant look up how to do the fibre carb deduction at the moment but will get back to you tonight.
Here is the instruciton from the 'help' function for changing the default to deduct fibre to get net carbs
        Food log columns
You can change the columns that are displayed in the food log list. For example, you can add a column for meal, reason, or carbohydrates minus fiber.

To choose different columns for the food log...

        1. Choose View / Current View / Choose Food Log Columns... from the menu, or right-click in the food log and choose Choose Columns... from the context menu.
        2. FitDay will display a dialog box listing the possible columns for the food log. There will be a check beside each active column.
        3. Check a column within the dialog box to activate it. Uncheck a column to deactivate it. (Note: some columns are required and cannot be deactivated.)
        4. Click the OK button in the dialog box.

        5. The food log will now show the new columns.
so make sure the 'carbs - fiber' column is selected and it should display for you.

          Re: Fitday help please!

Here is a quote from the FAQ about the online fitday.com which explains how to get it to show the fibre carbs so you can mentally work out your net carbs
If you use fitday for Atkins then you must go to the Goals page and tell fitday to track fiber. You do this by clicking the 'Create Nutritional Goal' box where a list will drop down. Click on 'Dietary Fiber' in the list and then click "Go". After you do that fiber will show up right below the carb count on the daily foods page totals. You subtract the fiber total from the carb total and that is your net carb count. The fitday program will not subtract the fiber automatically but you can do this in your head when you look at your totals for the day.
It doesnt matter what fibre number you enter as a goal - I used to have '1' as my goal before I got the pc version which is more user-friendly .

            Re: Fitday help please!

            Hello, Everyone

Elizellen, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I've never used the PC version, so I have no idea at all how to navigate it. And I know even less about metric measurements.

I just wanted to stop by and offer a little encouragement to those of you just starting out on Fitday. I will be the first one to admit that Fitday is a major pain in the @ss when you first start using it. But with a few tips, and a little practice, it becomes really easy. It sounds like everything has been pretty much covered, but I'll just go over a couple of things, again.

First, my best advice would be to enter as many custom foods as you can. I have most of mine entered that way... even eggs, cheese, and a lot of my fresh vegetables. I went through my pantry and refrigerator, and entered the nutrition info from the label of every product I would every use. And for the foods that don't have a label to go by, I use a few different sources. A really cool one, that I like a lot, is in the FAQ forum on this board.

Here is the link... after you click on this link, you will then need to click on NUTRITIONAL SPREADSHEET. It will take you to an awesome list... I have printed it out and use it often.
            http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....ead.php?t=42713

I also use Calorie King and the Nutrition Data site, at times. I get my info from them, and enter the info as a custom food, because very often, their info is easier to use and understand. Fitday can be quite tedious, at times, when just trying to locate a simple food.

            Calorie King:
            http://www.calorieking.com/

            Nutrition Data:
            http://www.nutritiondata.com/

For a recipe that you eat a lot (like my pumpkin concoction I eat everyday), I went to a day that had no other foods listed and entered all of the ingredients. I then noted the nutrition info for the recipe, and went to Custom Foods and entered it as MUP. Now, instead of having to enter 5 different ingredients into Fitday, I just have to click once on MUP. Same with my Muffin in a Minute... instead of entering 7 different ingredients, I just click once on Muffin in a Minute.

About net carbs... I just went to the left side of the screen and clicked on "Goals" so I could set a fiber goal. It doesn't matter what number you set it at - mine is set a 1, just so it will count the fiber for me. Now, the grams of fiber will be displayed along with the other info for fat, carbs, and protein. You just subtract the fiber from the carbs, to get net carbs. And, I like knowing how many grams of fiber I get each day. I'm a fiber freak. I try to never get under 25, and it's not uncommon for me to get 45 - 50.

So hang in there, people. It really does get easier with practice.

I have Windows Vista, too, and have had problems trying to get into certain documents/files. Don't know if it is the same problem with your PC, but mine straightened out after I got the newest update of Adobe installed. It only took a minute. I'm not very computer savvy... good luck!
