So I dont know what to do. I have been drinking my water like crazy, probably about 60-65 ounces a day, and it almost makes me gag. I dont even like the sight of water anymore. I dread drinking it. What should I do? I know that I need to drink it, so suggestions please. Oh and a fun thing today, I am 9 lbs from my college graduation goal which is May 1st. I am so psyched, I know that I can do this. Yea for me!!! Oh and one more thing. Do any of you have water by your bedside at night. I have always found that I get thirsty and night, and always drink water in the middle of the night. Not to mention that I get up at least 1 time a night to go to the bathroom, but if I dont have water by my bed, my mouth gets REALLY dry. I have done this for years its the only way for me.

Me, I love the taste of water. But, There are things you can do to liven your water up. Fill up a pitcher with your daily goal of water. Add ice, fresh cut lemon, lime or cucumber. The colder water is, the better it seems to taste imo.

I have even added a drop or two of peppermint essential oil to my water. (only do this in a disposable plastic water bottle or glass bottle or pitcher as I can never seem to get that peppermint smell out no matter how hard i try. They now sell peppermint water in the stores.

I have also noticed that water tastes better from glass. I bought several "fuze" juices and gave the juice to the kids (though if you are on the fruit rung and dont have a prob with artificial sweeteners you could drink it its very low carb.

I took the plastic off, washed them out and now have very sleek looking glass water bottles I carry around. My water definately tastes better.

    So to sum it up:

Temperature matters. (some prefer room temp or tepid, so find what temp you like it best)

Glass doesnt leech anything into the water so it can stay clean tasting.

You can always add essential oils (just a drop a little goes a long long way) or fresh fruit such as lemon or lime or even cucumber for a nice fresh flavor.

Now about drinking in the middle of the night, I definately have to keep water by my bed. Not only do I get thirsty at night (and get up at least twice to pee) but I found that if I dont drink at night I wake up with weird dehydration headaches like Im hung over. I fixed this by upping my water intake during the day but I can always tell when I fall shy of getting my minimum for the day because I wake up the next morning needing aspirin as if I got soused the night before.

OH, and congrats on being so close to that goal!!!! Thats awesome!

I didn't like the taste of water at first either but I pushed on and yesterday I almost drank a gallon. I rarely drink anything else now. I do get sick of it every now and then but I just try to get me a nice cold bottle and think about what it is going to taste like when I am skinny.

Oh yeah, and I keep water by my bed because when I first wake up, I don't get straight up, I read or do computer work so I like to get a jump on my water for the day.

How weird that you started this post. I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I don't know if it is because I am sick and my taste buds are off or does my water really taste bitter?? I have one of those 64 ounce mugs and try to drink at least 2 a day. I just keep telling myself that the water is flushing out the fat

If you're not hungry, don't eat. If you're not thirsty, don't drink.

Listen to your body. Be sure to check the scale though. If your body's not getting enough water you'll be thirsty and your weight will go up because your fat cells will cling to the water you do have.

What DANDR says is true - if meat or cheese doesn't sound good, you're not really hungry. If water doesn't sound at least palatable, you're probably not thirsty.

Hmmm. Is it tap water? Maybe something's odd. If so, have you tried bottled?

Do you have Twist down there? It's just water and a tiny bit of something to flavor it.

This is not necessarily true for everyone, and would be dangerous for me, as I am NEVER thirsty. Have always been like that... if I wasn't eating a meal, I wouldn't drink anything all day. So, I have to measure what I drink to make sure that I get it all in. I drink nothing but water.

I agree with Mitzi--just because you're not thirsty doesn't mean you don't need water. By the time you feel thirst, you're ALREADY dehydrated.

I LOVE fuze bottles! Water to me definitely tastes better from a glass than a plastic bottle and I find it stays colder longer. I prefer my water to be very cold. I can drink it room temperature but...ugh..

adding a slice of lemon, lime, or cucumber is definitely a good idea. gives your water a bit of flavor and a crisp taste to it - its very nice

                        Re: Water Disgusting

                        I totally can relate.

I do like water but I can't drink much of it, its too bland. Lately i've been drinking this water called Adirondack water (comes bottled) and theres a whole bunch of flavors. It's sweetened with splenda and very nice!
I know if your on induction and such you have a pretty limited splenda intake but I drink two 16 oz bottles of this a day and it just tastes like juice.
Makes drinking water far more enjoyable!

And yeah, I also agree the colder the water, the better it tastes as well as drinking it from a glass.

No, It is not tap water. It is from the Culligan man. I really am thinking that it might be because I am sick. Maybe my taste buds aren't working right. I have never heard of either of the flavored waters mentioned on here but anything sounds better right now. Even though I drink water (64 oz) or more.. I still have cotton mouth. Is that normal?

Thanks all who replied. At this point I need to try the "telling myself that it is good for me" trick while I am drinking it. I dont really need to drink the flavored waters number #1 because the aspartame gives me headaches, and even splenda sometimes, and number 2 because water is not supposed to be flavored and I just need to suck it up. Or else if I even dabbled in that I know that I would probably only drink that, and that is not good. So I guess I will keep drinking it and hopefully the taste will get better for me.
Its not like I dont drink it, I just have a hard time drinking it. But I guess the more I drink the more it flushes me out. Oh and if I only drank when I was thirsty I would not or hardly drink any at all. So I dont know if that is a true statement. Oh and how many of you keep the water by your bed stand at night?
