    Re: Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

Ok everyone.....that's it! I've now been stuck for four weeks!!! I've tried everything including trying thre first step of OWL...nothing!.. So I'm going back to induction for one week and if that doesn't work...I'll try a different diet. I can't think of anything else to do. Is it worth checking out the fat fast?

    Thanks again.

      Jacqui,
Since you only have 8 pounds left to lose, Atkins says it may come off very slowly. The less you need to lose, the slower it seems.

I would not try the fat fast. Since you lost originally pretty well, you probably don't need it. When I have stalled before, what I have tried is going back to induction but cutting out the frills. Strictly meat and veg. No cream, no sweetners, no cheese, etc. It is not as luxurious, but it does work. Since exercising, I have not had to do that, but it sounds like you are already doing all the exercising you can.
      Good luck

          Re: Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

Thank you once again, Yes it was 20lbs in total, (although I'vre decided to lose another 8 on top!) I think going back to induction without the frills will probably be the best. Fingers crossed!Re:excercise, although I've recently had a major operation, I had no option but to take it very easy for a few months, however, I still go to the gym 4 times a week, we live in a very small village next to a river so often take long walks and we are self employed restoring a 400yr old farm house, lots of pysical work! And recently because the weather has improved...we've taken the boat back to the mooring and we went water skiing on sunday. (At this rate i'll have thighs like a rugby player!) So I don't think exercise is the problem!

          Have a good day!

            Re: Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

Have you had your body fat assessed, Jac?

One of our members thought she was still pounds from her goal but after having this done discovered she was in danger of being underweight, as Atkineering including exercise had replaced some of her fat with muscle and meant her original goal weight didnt take this into account.

Many members find that after doing Atkins they actually are smaller in size than they were previously at the same weight, so goal weight numbers are not so important in the long run.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

              Re: Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

              Hi Again Elizellen,

No actually I haven't. I wouldn't know how to. But I can see the squidgy bits...abdomen and inner thighs! The abdomen is due to the operation and will probably always be a bit dodgy...hugh scar below squidy bit! But yes I understand that muscle weighs more than fat so I'll take that into consideration. I lost 2lbs last week by reverting back to Induction without any frills, and I've stopped the coffee alltogether. I'm down one dress size...I was verging on a 16 (uk) from a 10/12 prior to the op...I can comfortably get back into the 12's until the end of the day when my tum swells up (I'm still healing!) I'll keep going and hope that I can get back into the 10.

Can you tell me why the caffene ban?

              Kind regards,

              x
              Jac.

                Re: Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

One reason for avoiding caffeine from Dr A
Excessive caffeine has been shown to cause low blood sugar, which can make you crave sugar
                and
Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.
                and
Stay out of the java jungle. Excessive caffeine (found not only in coffee but in tea, chocolate and many soft drinks) has been shown to cause a hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) reaction, which will provoke cravings and cause you to overeat. Omitting caffeine may be a big sacrifice for you, but, in my experience, weight loss often starts up again as soon as people remove aspartame and caffeine from their regimen.

                  Re: Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

Sounds sensible...BUT the only thing I'm actually craving is a good strong cup of coffee!!! I never did have cravings for any type of food except occasionally fruit.

                  PLEEESE can I have coffee???

                    * Caffeine can cause cravings or blood sugar spikes with some people. If you’re one of them, you should drink only decaffeinated beverages. If you don’t have a problem with caffeine, you may drink one or two caffeinated beverages a day, because evolving research indicates there may actually be health benefits to a limited amount of caffeine. However, if you have a true caffeine addiction, it will be best to break it during Induction, because any food addiction can cause problems if it isn’t taken care of. Once you’ve broken the addiction and moved on to OWL, you can carefully try adding caffeinated beverages back into your food intake, as long as it doesn’t trigger the addiction again.

when i am stuck on a plateau I walk more, I drink more water, I eat more veggies from the induction list, I eat out less, and I have plain steak, chicken or fish straight from the market and it works because I believe it works.
                    Don't give up.
It gets very easy after awhile.
