If it is just the name you have a problem with you can always just ask for a name change and keep the account you have opened.

Atkid is right, when I first signed up I picked a username that was really lame (Mrs. Fink) . Jimmie_48 was able to contact an administrator for me and helped me change my user name to what it is now (which is so much cooler) .

If you want to change just the username contact and admin and they should be able to change it.

I wanted a new name, a new start. I wanted the date I showed I joined as new. I wanted to be totally anonymous. At this point it doesn’t look like that is going to happen now, if they do approve my registration. Is that asking too much?




I registered three times, and was kicked off everytime with no explanation. First off that is extremely rude. Somebody had to disapprove me; it wasn’t done by the ‘system’. And even though I received a generic response after I asked the Webmaster, somebody had to send it, it wasn’t ‘the computer’ doing it all by itself. It should not matter that I want to re-register. I don’t understand why you can’t delete an old account, I have never heard of that before.






I found another Atkins forum, and I am going to use that. I will lose the 100 some pounds I need to lose. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to share that on here. I understand I can keep this account, but I am not going to go where I don’t feel welcome. This whole experience has been extremely frustrating and unnecessary.



I was pumped up about starting fresh. I was ready to come on here with my story in the introduction, and dive into the challenges. I was ready to share my pictures and whatever successes I had. I still will, just somewhere else. Even though this forum looks better, at least I can register on the other one!

I am going somewhere that is a little less picky. Maybe its better this way. Maybe this forum can't provide the support I need to live this lifestyle.

sorry....i need to interject here. i have never heard of this problem before but i HAVE heard of other problems new members have encountered and EVERY TIME they got helpful and friendly assistance by the mods here.

i have been at this site for well over a year and ANYTIME there is a concern or issue, the folks who run this board are quick to help or clean up a problem. they are doing this on their own time and even as such...are so helpful, friendly and readily available.

NO ONE here wants to see anyone fail. the support here is phenomenal. sometimes, sites are not set up to accomodate ALL our requests. that seems to be the case here. sorry if this site is not for you. sorry if you feel offended. i have never felt their rules or requests to be "picky". there is MORE than enough support here to live the lifestyle....ask me. i've lost 70 pounds...there are wonderful people here who have lost WELL OVER 100 POUNDS. it has been done with the support of this board.

sorry, but it seems to me that you have a little bit of a chip on your shoulder. you have been offered lots of help and concern since you posted your originial complaint and STILL you persist in being angry. well, good luck at the other board or here if you choose to stay. i guarantee you that if you stay at ADBB, you will be overwhelmed with the knowledge, support, concern and friendliness of the good folks here.....patience is a vitrue. it helps us ALL to use some. again, good luck!

Try registering three times and then get ready to post with pics, story, ticker factory, etc and you find out your account has been deleted for no reason, thinking that it is a computer glitch becuase there is no way the adminstrators would not open a new account for me. Try waiting a few days for a response that tells you nothing except that you don't meet the 'requirements'. Try waiting for a response about why I didn't meet the requriements to open an account and hear nothing.

I will still come here from time to time. I can just visit the site and get info without posting anything. If I have success and find things that work I will post them on the other Atkins site.

You where obese. You know what it is like to want to get the ball rolling when you start something like this. You want to delay, you want to dive in and get going, like coming on here with a new account! Imagine going through that for a few days and not being able to start, and seeing how you feel,

yes, i was obese. now i am very healthy thanks to the good folks here and my own hard work.

no one is being UNSYMPATHETIC with you. that is my point. NOW you have the attention of the board, folks have told you they will help you but you persist in being angry about it. (hence the "see how you feel" comment).
we all understand frustration. ANYONE ON THIS BOARD WHO IS FIGHTING THIS FIGHT UNDERSTANDS FRUSTRATION.

how about just saying "thanks mods for helping me sort this out".....and stop being so mad about what happened which is obviously a glitch in the system.

If you use something as easy and insignifigant as your start date (really the only thing that would change, as you could just have your screen name changed if you wanted) as an excuse for "not being able to start" you are setting your self up for failure. I've been there, I've lost the 100lbs, and trust me, bigger problems than this will arise.

Just to be clear, I have started the Atkins lifestyle already. I haven't let this stop me from doing that. Most people who have lost weight on Atkins and kept it off have never even used a forum. To me it is kind of like Weight Watchers, you are holding yourself accountable to other people, but instead of the scale, you have ticker factory, challenges, etc. There are also many great ideas on here. The bad is there is also plenty of bad advice, so you have to really refer to DANDR for many things.

Oh, good. I was worried you were getting sidetracked by this.

I agree, there's a lot of good advice, and sometimes there are things that you wonder about, so you do more research. Also good to remember the "mileage may vary" thing, (especially if like me there no big drop so far in induction).

Every body is different and we all got here via different routes - meaning I think we've all messed up our metabolisms in different ways, so what works for one might not work for me. As someone on another board always says, "your body, your science experiment".

Okay...I don't understand. You were asked to be patient and that Mitzi was going to try and personally get a hold of a moderator for you...I don't understand now how you're going to go to another board?? Just as she has said, please give this sometime.

As for the whole "you see how it feels" I do know how it feels...and if you think the rules in this forum are 'picky' good luck else where. On another forum I used to go too, you couldn't even POST this thread you posted. Anything pertaining to any problems you had with the board had to be sent to them, oh yea and I got the same responce you got. A generic, automated one. It took THREE WEEKS before my account was finally activated after being denied a million times. So before you assume no one knows how frustrated you are...maybe just maybe, we HAVE been where you are.

On this site, there are people RIGHT now, who don't even know you or anything about you other than the fact you want to change your name, and they are going out of their way to try and help you.

This forum is by the book..2002 addition only. Don't even mention the '72 version b/c ADBB is on TOP of it. Have a look on the board what happens when people hand out "bad advice". If you're going to give out advice that someone could take.. you had better be able to back it up with refrences from the book. There are enough people on here who know that book inside and out, front to back that know when it's sound advice that is even worth taking, and they have no problems tell you so. This site is for support, encouragement, and success. We pick each other up and try to help in anyway we can. And this is exactly what's being done for you. This is the ADBB way and I'm sorry but if you do not want the help, maybe you might be better off at another site, as you said.
One last thing, I have started and restarted a TRILLION times. I certainly didn't start atkins in may of 05 and I'm still only about 19 pounds down and 35 away from my goal. LOL This is a journey, a process, an adventure. You will hardly find anyone on this board who hasn't slipped up once. There are a few, but certainly arent the majority. We get back up (even if it's a year later) and get back on the wagon. I personally feel my start date reflects my journey. As does yours. It's your decision to change that but I just think that it should mark when you started posting, learning, sharing, all the things we do here. Changing a start date with a new user name will never change the fact that you started your journey 2 months ago here with ADBB.

And for the record, I hope that your journey here at ADBB doesn't end today...I hope you accept the help that is being given to you. Indulge in a challenge ( i have an Independence Challenge that you are SO welcome to join!!), give some advice from your experiences, welcome some new members.

Whatever you decide to do, know that we wish you success in your journey, reguardless of how you choose to get there.
