      Re: Small Victories

**I was so excited when my daughter visitied from out of state and when I walked acros the room in my exercise shorts exclaimed, "Mom you've got a muscle flexing in your leg!" I was so excited, I don't remember everseeing muscles on me anywhere before. Now I can find a lot of them!

When I realized I could not only do an hour of jazzecise, but that I enjoyed it and could keep up and now sometimes do two hours back to back!

Last weekend when I took the grandkids to an amusement park and on impulse decided to climb the 43 ft. high rope net, bad knee and all. I made it to the very top, and was able to put my hands flat on the platform, but could not get a large enough toe hold to push myself the last 4.5 feet. But for me making it to the top and back down in one piece was an incredible victory.

I LOVE READING THESE!!! I so identify with many of these little everyday things. Reading the list is a great reminder that I HAVE accomplished a lot even if I am only halfway there.

I went shopping yesterday and tried on jeans. All the sizes that fit had a 1 in front of them (no more 20, 22, 24s)

                Haha, love this thread!!

I rmemeber when I was shopping at Fashion Bug, they have a plus side of the store and a "regular" side of the store, I had been a size 22 and lost 50 pounds. I went in and tried on the smallest on the plus side, and it was too big! I looked at the misses side skeptically, and had to go up and ask the clerk, "What size would be the next down from a 16 W?" She said a 16 or 14 Misses!! So I was over to the other side!! (Then gained back to a 16 W again after the baby and am fighting that tooth and nail!!!

And when I noticed a space between my elbows and waist, instead of them rubbing together, that's always a plus!

I havent weighed yet but something I've already noticed is that my wedding rings are looser!! I mean, they're not going to slide off or anything but they're also not going to cut off circulation either!

                    Re: Small Victories

This is a great thread and I empathize with Evans the Outsize shop and the airplane seat and dinner tray. I empathize with most of what has been said already but for me the greatest moment was when we realized that 18 months ago my husband was in danger, I mean real danger. His cholesterol was 9 his blood pressure was 110/180 he was nearly 300lbs and his blood sugar was totally out of control usually about 9 or even 10.

Yesterday he was told that his cholesterol was 5 still a little high as it should be 4 as he is diabetic. His blood pressure is 70/110 and his blood sugar is 5.8. The doctor told him that he was working towards coming off medication and controlling his diabetes with diet. His weight has dropped to around 270lbs. We are so so thrilled and this is all down to Atkins.

Thats fantastic Cookiecate! This thread is great. So many cool things that mean so much!

Couple more small victories for me last week. I was taping trim before painting a room and realized I no longer had to sit down and scoot around room on my rear. I taped the whole room bending at the waist! (conmfortably!)

Then yesterday at jazzercise, someone came up and tapped my shoulder. She was gettingready to introduce herself when she realized we already knew each other well. She said from the back she did not recognize me I had lost so much. (actually my weight is changing soooo slowly, but the exercise is reshaping me and I am developing muscles!)

                        Re: Small Victories

My small victory happened a few days ago. I was running late from work, and to be (sincerely) helpful, my fella decided to pick up dinner. I walked in the door, and there was a hoagie from my favorite sub shop. In the past, I would have just eaten the hoagie, rather than risk hurting his feelings. This time, I took a deep breath, gave him a big smile and kiss, and said, "Thank you so much. I'll have to toss out the roll, but I can eat the rest of it in a bowl."

I can't remember a time, ever, when I would have not just given in to avoid any hurt feelings. I was so proud of myself, for putting my needs and health, first. The funny thing is, that he was actually proud of me for not giving in. No argument, and no hurt feelings, he said, "Well good for you!"

Yay Sugarsack! I felt the same way when my knees got stronger from walking. The more I used them the better they got.

Creek, that's a true victory! Good for you!

I will consider it a victory if my husband EVER understands what a carb is. He tries so to be supportive and helpful, but his idea of the 4 food groups is sugar, white flour, hydrogenated fat and beer Any other information of nutrition just seems to go through him Or as my mother used to say "in one ear and out the other".
