    Re: Nightmare on Scale street

Did eating those french fries fix the problem? Do you feel better because you ate them?

I know those seem like harsh questions, but they're fair and they're honest and they're the type of questions you're going to have to start asking yourself BEFORE you eat them if you don't want to see 214 or higher on that scale again. This is not a drill. This is the real deal.

vek, lots of us have been where you are and have had happen to us what happened to you. I *know* it's disheartening, but all it means is that you started out heavier than you thought you did. It doesn't negate your work or your losses up to this point. It's a scale. It gives you a number. That's it. Honestly, the scale is the *least* accurate way to measure your progress and success, so while I know it's tough, don't put too much stock in it. Know why? I have a great example.

One of my best friends and I are the same height. We have the same build too. She weighs 130lbs and is a size 10. I weigh 146lbs today and I wear a size 6 in most things. Tell me, who do you think happier with the big picture? It burns her to no end and it makes me . The numbers on a scale are just that.....numbers.

Now, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get going again. I would also recommend re-inducting. Induction is not just about getting in ketosis. Induction is about starting to re-learn how to use food. It's about starving out that carb-tooth that got us big behinds to begin with, and starting out from the basics and working back up. USE the program, don't just "do" it. There's a difference.

Hang in there and JOB WELL DONE on your weight removal so far!!!

I was on induction mode when I had the fries. I will continue induction. But I will add some extra exercising to compensate.
I just set myself a signature following my new scale's logic.

Maybe she's using my old scale?

And, how can I not move on with such friends like you, guys?

              Re: Nightmare on Scale street

Hey Vek, I think it is really good advice to continue on with induction, I screwed up after induction (celebrating 10 pounds lost) and it took me a week to get into ketosis again! I gained back 3 pounds and it took me a week to see significant progress on the ketone strips. It was a lot of hard work undone. Now I am back in ketosis and got those 3 pounds back off, thankfully!! No fries are worth that!

I too, have a bad scale, it says I am 10 pounds less than any Dr scale. So I know I will have 10 more to contend with at the end of my journey, but big deal, I feel great!!! Just keep on, and the exercise is a invaluable tool as well!!! Good luck!

                Vek -

This is too funny - I'M GOING THROUGH EXACTLY THE SAME THING! We just replaced our old "spring" scale with one of these fancy electronic gizmos that measure fat content etc. I'm suddenly 5 lbs heavier. But, y'know - it just doesn't matter. What matters is the relative weight.

                Best!

My new scale comes next week. I thought it would be interesting to see the ounces going down. But after all these stories I may have to keep my old one....LOL!

                    Re: Nightmare on Scale street

i have a newer scale(about 5 yrs old), and it is always about 10 lbs less than what my dr's scale says i weigh. also the freight scale we have at work is way off from my home scale. i only go by whatever my home scale says as far as my weight goes though, because that's the one i used as my starting weight when i restarted. i don't let what the other scales say i'm at bother me.

hope you can get back on track and will have much success on your journey.

                      Re: Nightmare on Scale street

I'm mortified of getting a new scale.

I placed a 10 pound weight on my scale this morning to see what it said, it said 6 pounds. But then if I placed pressure on it with my hand (so put 50lbs or so of weight), and then let go, it would go to a perfect 10. So I'm thinking it's probably accurate when I stand on it, because I weigh more than 10 pounds?
