        Congratulations! Well done!

I just read this thread for the first time... it would have been very easy to get discouraged and fall away from the program, but you stuck with it! I'm happy for you! Getting in those good miles in the mileage challenge didn't hurt any either!

Original goal: Lose 30 lbs by Mar. 1st, 2006. I made it!!!

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

I just read this for the first time also. Way to go, Vek!

Although I use the scale about twice a month, I don't let it rule me. The trick for me is to focus on sticking to this WOE. Tell me, if I am doing what I am supposed to be doing, what more can I do? The scale can say whatever it wants, I can do no more!

Sometimes that means I'm going to get on that scale and it's going to say a loss and sometimes it might not. When it doesn't, it could be because of my cycle, retaining water, my body making adjustments, etc........it could be a hundred different reasons. Does that mean I have screwed up? No, maybe I need to make adjustments, but we all know we could be doing it 100% right and we aren't going to see the loss for a few weeks even a month or so. That's just the way it is.

I'm talking to myself here because I can get just as frustrated as the next person when I don't see a loss or something like the new scale happens (like when my scale says 250 and the dr's says 260. ).

And although the scale can be a good indicator, it's not the end all. My problem is I give the scale too much power over me. That's why I had to quit getting on it so much.

If it said good things, I'd have a good day or be too overconfident and think I could go off plan a little. If it said bad things, I would be depressed and want to go through the McDonald's drive through or starve myself to make up for it. I'd be a mess!! (not saying you are, Vek......you just had the guts to show the scale who's boss )

I guess I just needed a rant about how much I hate the scale.

But I am so thrilled for you Vek. You are doing so well. You are an inspiration to me.

i feel your frustration. I have a digital scale, and I can step on it 4 times in a row and get 4 different readings. Usually about 1.5 - 3 lbs difference. ??? what the heck? Does anyone know why this happens.

              Re: Nightmare on Scale street

I used to "live by the scale" when I tried other diets to lose weight, and would break down in tears as I starved myself through yet one diet after another without losing a single pound. I started induction and lost 11 lbs the first week, but only 1 pound this week, yet I am feeling better, have more energy, and am overall a happier person (being diabetic, the sugar swings REALLY affected my moods, I wasn't a pleasant person to be around.) After reading some of the testimonials here, and how one lady (can't remember her name but I recall her story) went from a size 22 to a 16 without the scale moving, I've decided to only weigh myself once a week and if it DOESN'T show a loss but I've not cheated, and I still feel great, then to not berate myself that "Its not working!" this time around. The inspiration I'm getting from all of you here is so amazing!

Neecy, Congrats on your 12 lbs loss thus far. You and I are similar in the amount we want to lose and age, I'm 37 though. I am on day 6th of induction, and I can't stop myself from weighing every day. I'm down 3.2 lbs thus far, I had hoped it would be more than that, but I'm trying to evaluate what I eat daily to see if I need to tweek things a bit. I hope to have lost 10 lbs during the induction phase.

Do you think you'll stick with induction longer than the 2 wks? I'm contemplating doing that, but I guess I need to make it through this first 14-days of induction before deciding that.

I'm debating staying on extended induction versus going to OWL. I'm really not feeling "deprived" of anything especially now that I've found Cleochatra's atkins blog and her amazing recipes. The only thing I would like to be able to add is a few more veggies and some whipped cream/berries so I might do a severely restricted form of OWL, but I'm going to stay on induction itself another 2 weeks minimum.
