    Re: Buddy List July 7-13

hello everyone, welcome to our new buddy newleaf. feel free to join in and enteract with us anytime. i finally went back to bed this morning around 5:45 am and got a few more hrs sleep. no more headache, thank goodness. i'm enjoying having today off work. it's nice having a day where DH isn't home & i can get things done around the house without him wanting to go run around all over the place.

i'm looking forward to going for a bike ride again, hopefully next time i won't have that horrible headache and can truly enjoy it. it had been about 20 yrs since i had ridden one and i did pretty good despite not feeling well.

study- thanks for the suggesting the pumpkin, i have been trying to eat it quite a bit, and also been eating jicama which is another veggie high in carbs. i'm starting to think now though that it really has more to do with still not having much of an appetite and not cooking enough so that i don't over eat than it really has to do with what i'm eating. atkins is such a wonderful appetite suppressant!!! i will be trying to make sure i use the higher carb value veggies more often so that i can keep those carb counts up a bit.

elsie-"weigh" to go on the 3 lbs loss. today would be my normal weigh in day too, but since TOM arrived, will wait another week until i weigh in. i did take my measurements again though and lost a total of 6.75 inches in the last week, so that's pretty motivating.

well it's only a couple more hours til DH gets home and i'm gonna try to get my 15 min. stability ball workout in and then get my laundry done, then start dinner for us. we are having pan fried bass(fish caught in canada by my parents last week) with cajun seasoning for breading, onion rings with pork rinds for breading, cabbage, and green beans. maybe some jicama fries too.

hope everyone is having a great day, will check in again later tonight.

        Re: Buddy List July 7-13

6WEC is short for the 6 week exercise challenge. there are many of us in this group who signed up for it when it began on june 29th.

the challenges are a great tool in helping stay accountable for exercising.
you set a goal at the beginning of the challenge for whatever that specific challenge is for, and strive to reach and/or exceed the goal you made. there are many exercise challenges going each month, such as abs, pushups, squats, mileage, stability ball, even one for hula hoops and jump roping.

the challenges can be lots of fun too.

For those of you on the dairy rung I made a discovery today at the store that the small 1 serving containers of FAGE Total 5% greek yogurt have exactly 5 carbs in them which is perfect for rung 2. Make sure its the 5% though because other ones have different amounts in them. If you've never had FAGE and you like yogurt it is the BEST. It goes really well with honey too and Nature's Hollow makes this stuff called "tastes like honey" which is sugar free and really good. Its made from xylitol which is all natural sugar alcohol. If you read Sherri's journal you can hear her talking all about how xylitol is really good for you. Anyway, I just climbed to rung 2 so I thought I would share.

Also congrats n the 3 pounds Elsie and keep drinking that water Cori!

Hi livelaugh, here's the link to my scale. I love it!
Taylor 5596G Fat Water Muscle Bone Scale - Low Carb
The rest of that site has some good articles too.
A slug is what you get when you don't exercise as many days as you pledged to when you signed up for the challenge. At the end you can get a slug free award (that little round thing in my sig) if you don't get any. Sick days don't count as slugs though.
                Here is the rules thread:

Also, Elsie put in the last thread that we should all set a goal for ourselves for the week and a bunch of us decided to make it drinking 10 cups of water a day. You should do it too! Congrats on the 4 pounds and good luck at Curves!

NO not a water challenge but a self challenge for the week. We started discussing at the end of the last thread. You pick a goal you would like for yourself to reach this week. Most of just happened to pick water. Bill picked getting the bikes fixed up.

Thanks Monie and Vanessa...I was feeling very unloved and unsupported.

Monie...6.75 inches?? You go girl..that is so KEWL! Are you deep frying those onion rings? Can you throw in some beans and pickles and let me know what it tastes like?? LOL!

Hey Joe...seeing you around the boards. Keep up the supporting of others.

Vanessa...I am not a big yogurt fan but will pick it up to try. My favorite thing on rung two...in case you missed it. Is ricotta cheese with some cream and a little splenda in it. I was eating it twice a day before I ran out last night. I had never tried it before.

                    Cori...drink, girl, drink!

Hey everyone, made a tasty quiche today! Yum. I also made Matchstick Jicama Fries. Interesting, they were good with a little sugar-free ketchup. Jicama is an interesting veggie. It's not bad but it's not good either, haha!

Workouts are going well. My DS was a real doll today. She's always in a better mood when I actually wake up in the morning and play with her. At work for the rest of the evening. Talk to you all later!

Cool thanks Elsie. Also, even if you are not a big yogurt fan you should try Fage. Greek yogurt is much creamier and thicker. I just had some and I am in heaven right now. I agree with you about jicama, IrishMom. Its "interesting," LOL. The "jicama apples" on Linda's site are pretty good though.

Hello all. was wanting to join in the buddy system. I have been doing Atkins for over a month now. Only problem is Im doing my atkins plan and no one elses. I have PCOS and really need to be on this diet. I was doing so good during induction and after I felt the best I have felt in about 5 years. THen one celebration after another and I have fallen of the wagon I have gained about 3 pounds back which isnt awful, but can't beleive how awful my body feels with all the sugar back. The other problem is I cant stand the sight of eggs now. Any suggestions on how to get back on track. I know I just need to do it, in my mind the weight loss is a bonus but I felt amazing on the diet. Any help is appreciated
