    Re: Buddy List July 7-13

Vanessa...I will try it. I just eat it straight up?

Snow4rt. Welcome back! You joined the buddy list when it was in the induction forum. You are not alone. I am the only one in my family who is following Atkins too. I also have PCOS. You have to decide that the celebrations are not about the food. No one says...hey..we are celebrating birthday cake tonight...come on over. It is about people and the relationships and sharing with them. You have the power to control what you put in your mouth. It isn't always easy for any of us...and lots of us struggle and stumble along the way. But every time that you don't give in you get more of your power back and it becomes easier to resist. Check in often as you can and want too...we are very interactive here. 20 pounds lost is nothing to bang your head against a wall about!!! It is 2o pounds down...you were strong enough to come back before you put it all back on. You are a bit stronger and a bit wiser than last time. You can do this..you are worth it!!

      Hey everyone!

Elsie - congratulations on the 3 lbs. down.. you're an inspiration!

Snow4rt - welcome to the group. I tried Atkins a couple years ago (and did it all wrong) but one thing I did wrong was that I ate eggs too often scrambled. In fact, eating eggs everyday just in that short period ruined them for me for years to come. The trick for me this time I think is to not eat them just one way. For instance, I eat them scrambled, fried, and hard boiled, plus I make deviled eggs, egg salad and such. In fact a lot of the stuff you can put eggs in will not get you sick of them, for example the oopsie rolls.. I find variety is key, and if that is not enough you can always give eggs a rest and have some other protein. Hope I've helped. I'm on induction too, this is my second week in. Good to have you here!

I have drank 10 cups of water today, yay!!! That's day 1 down!

Yeah Cori..I am on my 10th cup right now. Will try to get 2 more in just because tonight.

Snow4rt..I forgot to comment about the eggs. Cori is right..so many ways to make them. But to tell you the truth I don't eat a lot of eggs. Some days none at all. There is no rule that says you have to have eggs for breakfast or anytime.

Welcome snow4rt! If you need support you have come to the right place.
Congrats to everyone for drinking their water. I just finished mine too.

Elsie, yes you can eat the yogurt just plain (it is that good) but I like it with the "tastes like honey." You could also just sprinkle a little sweetener on it.

            Re: Buddy List July 7-13

hey guys, just checking in. dinner was great tonight the fish i cooked was excellent. i made cabbage and green beans, and jicama fries. i also made some coleslaw. i attempted the onion rings, but in my haste to get them fixed, i just smashed the pork rinds by hand. in hind site i should have gotten the food processor out and chopped them up finer, even with the egg wash i dipped the onions in the pork rinds didn't stick very well. only made about a few onion rings because of that.

snow4rt- welcome to our little group. i know how easy it is to get sick of eggs , i had the same thing happen to me until i found the recipe for the mock danish, here is a link for the recipe. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes it's a great recipe and it's really good for breakfast or a night time snack before bed. i even add pumpkin to mine sometimes. it's really a great little treat, and i even add a little butter with some maple flavoring to mine sometimes, it kinda tastes like a pancake that way.

as far as advice for getting back on track, just do it. tell yourself you are worth the effort and that you are not gonna let anything stand in your way. there is always gonna be parties and celebrations going on now matter what time of the year. here is another link to a post here that i thought was very insightful and have found myself falling into this same way of thinking. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ime-start.html
as long as you are in the right frame of mind, now is the best time to get back on track. make the next bite, the next drink, the next thought of food be one of the legal variety.

to all the other buddies out there, it looks like you are all doing well. glad to see our buddy group supporting and helping each other. have a good night, gotta go get a shower and hop in bed. take care and happy low carbing....

              Re: Buddy List July 7-13

Hi all, its a tough week already, I didn't exercise yesterday and only drank 4 bottles of water. The class is sooooo demanding, I can barely keep up, and the baby has been howling for 2 days straight, nothing makes him happy, not being held, not being put down, not tylenol, I have no idea whats wrong with him. It is stressing the whole household out! Not sure if its teething or what. I have to take him in for a 8 month post NICU appt today, I am going to beg for some happy pills!! =kidding- And the class is humanly IMpossible to even get all the work done in the next 3 weeks, as it overlaps with the beginning of the CNA course, which is on campus. Ugh!!

So yeah, I let ME fall to the wayside yesterday, I needed to study so badly, but with baby being so disruptive at night, bf slept on the couch, I had no where to study with out waking either of them up. And I felt too bad leaving him with bf to go for a walk or bike ride last night. Woulda drank one more bottle of water if I had exercised. Oh well, I am up, its 5:30, didn't get much sleep, but am sneaking in a bit of study time now.

The up side is that I took a peek at the book for the CNA, and it looks like a cakewalk compared to the Anat/Phys I am doing now!! I am so excited to move on!! Just have to finish up tons of stuff before I am done with the current class tho. Feel like I am wearing lead wts.

Congrats Elsie on your 3 pounds!!! Woohoo!!!!

I decided that I have to take charge and get some stuff done with school, I plan to hit it really hard, no matter what baby tries to dictate. I am going to be really busy tonight, reading over 2 chapters and taking 4 tests and doing 2 assignments. So I may have to check in tomorrow ow whatever, gotta focus. I can't say I will be able to exercise, but will have to get back into it when I can, hopefully tomorrow. Am on the run today with baby's Dr appt, gotta buy ink, school supplies, groceries, too much on my plate, but will def continue to eat right!!! (Am still losing a 1/2 inch here and there, and down a couple more pounds, so I am on track, don't worry!!)

Going to knock some of these things out, keep up the good work all, tty tomorrow!!!

Elsie thank you for being so kind...I know that I struggle with weight but it is more than that. It is being able to stay on it for long term. I am a big yo-yo dieter but I am trying to change. My scale goes up and down and never seems to move the way I want it to go. Everyone has been so supportive and now I am actually able to see reults because I am looking for them everyday...

                    Morning everyone!!!

New buddy!!! Welcome cowgirl! Tell us a bit about yourself. You are already so far ahead in the game because you figured out it isn't just about losing the weight but about making a life change. Sure there are going to be tough days. But remember in those tough momments how often you felt bad mentally and physically before Atkins. I will take a few hard momments and feel better in the long haul. You can do it!

Thanks Val. Totally understand about not fitting in your exercise. That is going to happen every now and then. But so long as you are still eating right and exercise when you can it will be okay.

                                Re: Buddy List July 7-13

Hi all, I'd like to join the buddy list. I think one of the reasons I've failed at this in the past is because I was always going solo. So I'm looking for a place to get/give support and to hold my feet to the fire and keep me accountable.

I'm celebrating today. Tomorrow will be my 14th day on plan. I was going to wait until the first of next week to weigh, but I couldn't wait so I weighed in this afternoon. I'm down 19.5 lbs in 13 days!

This is a big milestone for me because it means I can weigh myself at home now. When I'm above 400 I had to weigh myself at the local women's health clinic - they were always very accommodating, but I still felt like I was imposing. Now I've made my last trip there and met my first minigoal.

Anyway, I'd like to check in now and then in the buddy list to keep myself honest and see how everyone else is doing.
