Hi all.
I started Atkins at the end of August, and so far, I have not lost any weight, despite doing almost everything right. In that time, my fiance (Tactical Cat) has lost 15 lbs, but has plateaued. I only WISH I had that kind of frustration. Actually - I did drop about 5 lbs in the beginning, but they came back or hover back and forth.
When I had a physical at the beginning of starting Atkins, my doc discovered I have hypothyroidism. Great! Now with Synthroid and Atkins I should be able to shed the lbs like never before. Right? Nope.
After a month or so on the lowest dose of Synthroid possible (.025 mg), he has now doubled it. That started last week. Still - NOTHING.
I think I need to drink more water, and I know I could exercise more. But, I have been SO good at sticking to the Induction plan - I should be seeing something by now.
Here's my usual day:
Breakfast:
2 or 3 eggs, either fried in butter or scrambled with cheese in butter
4 sausage links, or bacon, or 1 ham steak (with less than 2g carbs per steak - which wasn't easy to find)
Lunch:
2 cups lettuce with some kind of protein (sometimes baked chicken thighs, or microwavable sausage patties (with 1g carbs/serving) or Boar's Head Roast Chicken - all with little (2g or less per serving) or no carbs., and about 4 oz shredded cheese.
If I eat dressing - it is usually red wine vinegar and olive oil
Dinner:
We usually eat 1 - 2 cups veggies (sometimes a little more), and either something from the Atkins site like meatloaf made with fried pork rinds, or baked chicken, or fish cooked in butter.
I keep re-reading the rules. I think I really should be seeing some movement by now.
One area where I have seen mixed information on is caffiene. I do drink coffee and tea (and use cream instead of milk). Has anyone ever had a complete deal-breaker because of this? I had read that since the earlier findings, caffiene is ok - Dr. Atkins tested diet colas, and it was the citric acid that was the real culprit. Is that correct?
So, I ask you all for your help. And, I have added incentive now - a couple of weeks ago, Mr. Tactical Cat asked me to be his Mrs., so I guess I have to change my name to Estatic Cat now!!!
The wedding is in mid-February. And, we are going to the Bahamas in early December too - would love to drop SOME lbs for an ego boost, at the very least.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
