  • I'm a picky eater as it is...I need help with this..

Ok, so I'm on my third week of induction and I haven't lost any weight since my first week. I started at 158 and now my scale is going back and forth between 149-153...I know it's water weight but I need to drop this weight. I drink so much water I go the bathroom every 20 minutes and I cut out the splenda products.

I started exercising again yesterday, but I need help with this food...

First off let me tell you what I don't like and am allergic to:

Shellfish ( Shrimp, Lobster, Crab, etc.) I'm allergic!!

I don't like any fish except Tuna ocassionally

I don't eat most pork products except bacon and pepperoni ( which are both processed meats )

I have atkins bars and shakes but stopped eating/drinking them sunday to see if this week it would make a difference.

I'm not that big of an egg eater and I wake up at 4:30am to go to work so I don't have time to cook them. If I do eat them I like them over easy or scrambled without milk.

    I DO Like:

    Turkey
Chicken...Only Boneless Breasts, unless it's grilled, then I can eat it, but I don't have a grill, only a foreman and it does'nt taste the same
    I love Steak
I love cheese ( But again, I stopped eating it this week to see if it helps)
and I pretty much like all veggies

I stopped drinking diet soda...but I get bored of water so quickly and after a few glasses it starts to make my stomach hurt.

If ANYONE can give me any meal plan that fits this, you would be a lifesaver!!! I'm really struggling to want to stay on this diet...I'm not seeing any real progress and it's depressing me even more than when I started. I just don't know what to eat and that's putting so much stress on me, that and I don't have that much money to be spending on food with a million other bills to be paid...aka student loans

    Please Help!

I'm a picky eater too, so I sympathize - I dislike most fish, especially tuna, and I can't stand eggs!

Ok, the exercise thing is really going to help you a lot - that and cutting out the soda should assist. Also - be sure to take your measurements as well as weigh yourself. You may be losing fat and not realize it.

I drink tea - there are a lot of varieties and you can drink 'em cold or hot. Helps when you're bored with water.

Make sure you're eating enough - too little and your body goes into starvation mode. I struggle with this myself.

I'm in the same position as you! I can't eat so many foods that I'm very limited to just meats and veggies to eat (although I'm allergic to most of what I can't eat)

I have no advice other than to just try to make do with what you can have.

As for drinks, just keep chugging that water! You'll get used to it, and it's taste. Dont drink it glass after glass for the sake of it, space it out, as long as you're getting your daily allowance you're ok.

Processed meats usually contain a large amount of sodium. Sodium may cause water retention in people, so limiting the amount of processed meats might help you out with any "water weight" problems.

Also, it's been our collective experience on ADBB that the low carb bars, shakes, etc. either stop or slow down weight loss in some folks. So we don't recommend them until the later phases of the Diet.

You don't have to eat anything you are allergic to...in fact, you shouldn't eat it at all.

I eat mainly turkey and chicken. I use the Foreman Grill because it's convenient. The difference between it and a real outdoor grill is that it doesn't have a smoky flavor. If it's the smoky flavor you are missing, then you might want to add a drop of liquid smoke to the chicken.

I use chicken and beef in stir fry too. It's flavorful. It's quick. And it's tasty.

I'm not sure what you mean by the water hurting your stomach.....

I would agree that cutting out the bars/shakes should help. They tend to stall me, maybe they do you as well.

Focus on the things you do like. You like turkey, steak, chicken, makes salads, or how about a great chicken or turkey salad (mayo, pickles, onion mix together and eat!)

          turkey rollups
Steak with green peppers and onions
I put together Linda Sue's recipes and just leave out things that I don't like, like mushrooms. I do each cheese, but try to keep it to a max of 4 ounces per day.
Lettuce sandwichs (wrap your favorite meat, mayo, cheese, add cukes or something wrap in romaine lettuce leaves)
Stir Frys - that was a great idea!

All of these things can be eaten cold or heated up at work.

Anyone else with some great ideas?

How do you make a good stir-fry? A spicy one?

Secret of a stirfry is in the prep.

Meat, small pieces so they cook quickly.

Vegetables- ready to go in when you need them

sauce- I use soy, a touch (very tiny amount) of sesame oil (VERY POWERFUL FLAVOR USE A DROP AT A TIME!!), sriracha thai hot sauce, and that's about it. Maybe some chilis for fun.
"I'm big boned" ...Um, nobody has bones that big....

Buffalo wings, not just for breakfast anymore.

Hey baby, how do you like bald fat guys with no money?

I agree, you should definitely keep the shakes/bars out of the plan for awhile! They always give me a hard time. Also, if you keep with the water long enough it will stop feeling so distasteful to you. As Stephbob said, don't just chug it all at once though, space it out. Also, what I do is get a bottle of water with a sport cap and keep it with me then I take sips throughout the day and refill when empty. I always end up getting in a lot of water that way!

There is so much you can eat without resorting to fish/shellfish or pork. The trick is just using the things you can eat in different ways so that you don't get bored! I've made up some pretty tasty dishes by just combining things that I can have and like! I also just alter old recipes to be more friendly. Like stuffed bell peppers- but without rice or breadcrumbs or anything so it is basically meat, cheese and some veggies stuffed inside a bell pepper- an atkins delight! Or I like to make a spinach artichoke dip type casserole- cut up the spinach and artichokes and add to some mayo and parm cheese, add in some chicken and bake, it's so tasty! Or I make a really spicy soup with chicken broth, cayenne pepper, lots of veggies chopped up and chicken. Yum!!! Can you tell I'm hungry?? There are a million different things you can make! You can do it!

Also, how much are you trying to lose? And what is your current weight? It all makes a difference in how fast you lose...

Sorry, just realised that you're not eating cheese anymore so some of the dish suggestions I made won't work for you. I eat cheese but I keep it to a minimum and it works fine for me, I just make sure not to have very much!

                    This!

Not sure if you have seen it yet kevin, but the makers of the "cock" sauce also make a chili paste concoction that is far better to cook with than the original. I found it at Fred Meyers (Kroger chain) for about 2.50 a copy. Talk about spicy

You have been given some great food suggestions so all i will comment on is this bit of your post.

How much weight are you hoping to lose in total? At the highest scale reading you have lost 5 pounds on induction. A 'normal' percentage to lose is said to be between 5% and 10% of your total hoped-for loss. For someone with 100 pounds 'excess' poundage a 5 pound loss would be 5%, for someone with a total of 25 pounds to lose 5 pounds would be 20% of that amount.

So if your 5 pounds lost already equates to more than 5% of the total amount you want to lose then there is no reason to still be on induction.

Many of our members who decided to stay on induction for longer than the first 2 weeks even though they do not have say over 50 pounds to lose find that their losses slow or even stop till they move on to OWL and start adding more carbs.

Luckily you say you like most veggies, so OWL rung one would be no hardship to you, and maybe adding the 'good carbs' as Dr Atkins suggested will start you losing again as you climb the OWL ladder.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
