  • So how did everyone do on Christmas?

Man, I should've thought twice about allowing myself to cheat on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I have a carb hangover now lol. Over three months without sugar or carbs and then succumbing my body to a lot of it in a matter of 48 hrs was not the smartest idea. I will be avoiding the scale like it has a warrant out for me for at least a week lol. Anyway, back on track tomorrow!

How did ya do? By they way, hope everyone had a lovely holiday

I actually didn't do bad. i measured my veg and thought green. I had a little gravy but i checked the back and there wasnt that much carbs in. For started i have prawns with mayo and garlic. followed by my christmas dinner which was mainly meat with my veg and gravy. then later on for dessert a had an atkins bar. So i did great.I am going for a boxing day all you can eat today. which is gonna be tough but they do have steaks and stuff. I weighed myself this morning and i didn't put any on.

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

I just stayed with the turkey, ham, chicken, and greenbeans.

Stayed in ketosis. I just don't even want sugar anymore. Plus, being new to diabetes, I am overly fearful of carbs. I ate 3 meatballs, then realized they had breadcrumbs in them. When I tested my blood sugar it was 157 (usually it is nailed between 90-110). So just the breadcrumbs in the meatballs made my sugar jump. It just ain't worth it.
"I'm big boned" ...Um, nobody has bones that big....

Buffalo wings, not just for breakfast anymore.

Hey baby, how do you like bald fat guys with no money?

I did pretty horribly and gave in to a few sweets and cookies and even ate a potato. I only gained one pound though, but feel like Chef kevin, like crap from the carbs. It just isn't worth it to go back to the other life because now I feel like I need to detox again.

I am proud that I did so well. I only gave in to extra snacks that are carb friendly like cheese clouds and peanut butter fudge. And carb smart ice cream.
So I'm back to the old regular today!

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

I stayed on plan for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!!!!!!!! I've fallen off the wagon before and always felt like crap afterwards so I had my mind made up going into Christmas that I was going to eat well because it was to my benefit.

It feels great not to have any regrets. I didn't feel bloated and tired like the rest of my family. The bonus was when I hopped on the scale Christmas morning and was down a pound. How many people does that happen to?

I thoroughly enjoyed what I ate and didn't feel deprived at all. There were so many good things I got to eat ~ prime rib, sauteed mushrooms, herbed green beans, deviled eggs, shrimp cocktail with a low-carb cocktail sauce, and lutefisk with melted butter. Yummy!

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

I didn't even eat the sweet potatoes I was planning on. We had ribeye, salad and mixed veggies, and roasted white and sweet potatoes for the carb eaters. I did make a pan of low carb "magic bars" ....no illegal sweets in the house.

Now, I would say I ate too much!!!!

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

Great job everyone! Unfortunately, my mom's main dish on every Christmas Eve is lasagna. There was really nothing legal for me to eat. But I did watch my portions and had a salad to help fill me up as well.

Introduce your mom to Dreamfields pasta. Noone will ever know the difference, and your eating it once a year at Christmas won't set you back

I didn't do too badly either although I did eat too many cashews on Christmas Eve and too much Green Bean Casserole last night but the good thing is that I got up this morning with diarrhea from the beans so everything I ate in the past 2 days is gone now!

I was pretty good - probably too many carbs but stayed away from things illegal so I am happy. And I had a good time.

congrats to all of you who stayed on plan! I did really great with the exception of 3 large peices of butterbrickle. that stuff used to be my favorite. I realized that it is too sweet and not as satisfying as i remember it being

liv, you guessed it...Norwegian ancestors. My grandpa was talking about getting lutefisk out of the barrels that sat if front of the two grocery stores in town when he was a boy. My grandpa, my mom, an uncle, and I were the only ones in the family that ate the lutefisk yesterday. My mom rolls it up in lefse. My grandpa and I ate it with melted butter poured over it and a dash of salt and pepper. It reminds me of crab meat...interesting, huh?

I stuck to my Pre-Maintenance Plan without any problem. But then, just watching my overweight/obese relatives stuff themselves with cake, pies, cookies, chips, etc. is enough to make anyone lose their appetite for those things. And what's incredibly disgusting is that a few years ago, I was just like them, in terms of weight and appetite. Just watching them....just the sight of them eating those things, puts me off. That's why I kind of like family gatherings because it gives me more encouragement to stay on my diet because I don't want to be like them: overweight/obese with diabetes, high blood pressure, on dozens of medications, so heavy they can hardly walk 20 feet without stopping to rest, etc.
