Re: I can see it happening to the newbies...

Sookie, I'm a self-proclaimed foodie and I totally LOVE Atkins!

Cooking for me is actually appetite suppressing. I get "filled up" with the aromas of the food I'm cooking that I'm not so hungry when I sit down to eat it.

I can't believe I missed this thread!! It's freaking AWESOME!! I was thinking along the same lines; that the January 1st resolution to lose weight group would start dropping like flies the third week of the year. Great post Chef Kevin, you are one of the people in this community that keep me going.

I still feel like I am going strong. I love trying new recipies when I have time and then experimenting. Fajita Soup was my last variant of a Linda's Recipe (Creamy Taco Soup) and it was AMAZING. Shared it with a friend at work who is doing the diet and she loved it.

Re: I can see it happening to the newbies...

          Spot on kevin

Being anewbie to the forum myself I try to keep myself in check and not give this kind of advice myself because of the backlash from the "sensetives", as you seem to be finding out for yourself. Either way I read your post as "call to arms" so to speak for the newbs and it was obvious that it came from a very real and honest place, KUDOS to you my friend.

For those of you that can't seem to handle a little constructive butt-kicking from time to time, get over yourself. I say this in the most loving way possible, but if you can't take it ,hit the back button and look for some sympathy threads. This is the internet after all, and as we all know it is SERIOUS BIDNESS>

And one last point to think on.

These threads about being bored or "i can't wait to get back to eating XYZ again" can also get a little frustrating for those of us that have truly embraced this WOE as it was intended- a lifestyle change. All of us fatties here are ADDICTED to food and it is now time to break that addiction. Until one comes to that realization this will be hard. For me, the time in my life that was ruled by food is OVER.

I equate it to AA meetings. Usually there will always be someone who gets butt-hurt when the grisled veteran of the booze wars tells them to "get up, rub some dirt on it, and walk it off" when complaining about how life is dull without the sauce. As always the fist step to recovery is admitting you have a problem

See what ya did Kevin, now you got me going
