  • I've had enough! I HAD to have a bun with my burger!!!

And the FABULOUS thing is?...it's ATKIN'S FRIENDLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

omg - so I googled "low-carb buns" and I came across the recipe for a flax-seed bun.

    here is the recipe:

    SERVES 1

    2 tablespoons of melted butter
    1/2 pinch salt
    1 extra large egg (0.5 g carbs)
    4 tablespoons flax seed meal (0 g net carbs) - 8 carbs/8 fiber
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder

    1. Mix all ingredients together in a microwave safe bowl or
    container.

    2. Put the bowl/container in the microwave and nuke for 1
minute or until center is set. (i did this for 2 minutes)

    3. It will billow up in the bowl.

    4. Leave it in the bowl for another minute then turn it out on
a cooling rack and let it cool.

    5. Once it has cooled take a long bread knife and slice the
bun in half and make your hamburger as usual.

omg you guys - this "bread" is AMAZING!!!! I figured, 2 tbsp of the flaxseed meal is 4 g carbs 4 g fiber - so TECHNICALLY it's 0 net carbs, right? Of course, I have to add 0.5 for the egg - so I feel the need to count 1 full carb per serving of flaxseed for that...so 4 tbsp of flaxseed - 8 g carbs - 8 g fiber = 2 g net carbs!!!! (plus the egg = 2.5)

here's the pics I took of my dinner tonight:

I had my burger with fried cauliflower - just literally oil up a pan and place the cauliflower in it then i put some sugar-free feta cheese & olive oil dressing on it.

but omg am I happy! I figure - since this IS basically pure FIBER - that it'll be a treat for me, only ONE a day and maybe only every OTHER day...

but yes, i have found a new staple!!!

I can't WAIT to make a BLT out of this!
that - and when we get arby's and i get a large roast beef, i can make this for the bread!

    oh i'm in heaven!

Looks good! Just be sure to increase your water intake....all that fiber without sufficient water can have the opposite effect of what people think fiber should do

As Chicklady said, that does contain a lot of fibre, and in fact (unless you are already taking 4 tablespoons of flax under the constipation rule for induction) has more ground flax in it than should be eaten on induction.

Until you are at the nuts/seeds rung/level of OWL (where you can add more flax as your OWL rung 3 addition) you should maybe make 2 smaller buns from that recipe.

You could also make revolution rolls instead which uses either eggs & cream cheese or eggs & mayo.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Don't worry - all I drink is water and home made iced tea. But I easily get my 64 oz of just water in every day.

Here was my monster brunch today after pounding it at the gym for two hours:

This burger bun is super-easy to make which is nice! I also found it pretty tasty and had a texture similar to bread. OK it's nowhere near as good, but it is pure fibre and Atkins friendly so I can't complain!

I just need to keep drinking lots of water all day now! hehe

I've been making these for a long time. I like to add a tbls. of parmesian cheese to the mix. Also fresh herbs. So yummy!
Another good option for a burger bun is 2 portibello mushrooms grilled.

It's a brand in the UK called "The Black Farmer". They are very low carb compared to other supermarket brands.

I had one last night this way, only I forgot to grill the mushrooms by the time the rest of the meal was ready and so ate it using 2 raw portobello mushrooms instead. I think I prefer to leave the mushrooms raw.
