    Re: Hi

Oh, and the problem with pork rinds is that they have a lot of sodium. That will make you retain water. The lowest in sodium I saw had something like 300 mg in 1/2 oz. That is a quite a lot in such a small amount of food.

Some brands have sugar in them, so check for that.

      Re: Hi

Georgiana - Pork rinds are now out...thanks for the input...somewhere along the way I read or was told they were ok on induction. I never even thought about the salt, that very well may be a huge part of why the scale is not moving...good point.

Kathi22 - If you saw my stomach you would understand! I hold ALL of my weight from my neck to my hips...not very attractive... I used to be one of those people that allowed the scale to control my every mood, that was several years ago, now I use it to gage what I'm doing right vs. wrong. I know what I eat does not show up on the scale for 48 hours so I keep track of what I eat daily, if I see an increase on the scale I know something I ate needs to go...I also get a huge kick out of seeing that number go down...though not so much lately...lol.

        Re: Hi

I have PCOS also. i got up to 287 and really found that the only way to control my weight as many with PCOS is controlling my carbs. I also had fertility issues and didn't have a period for 3 years.. when I started controlling my carbs and lost weight my period came back and I got pg. the same month I got married where before I spend over 10,000$ in fertility treatments to get pg with my second.

With PCOS weight loss is sometimes slower but I found that I lost the first 100 quickly but I really had to exercise. Can I ask your age? Good luck

melimeli - are you on any prescriptions for the PCOS? Were you able to control it through low carbing only? I'm not big on takig pills and would love NOT to take them...I take them only when I remember to anyways. I'm 43...so things are really getting slow...lol.

            Re: Hi

No I have never taken any pills for PCOS. Only metformin while I was trying to get pg and having fertility issues. If you loose weight many problems go away. But I always have to limit carbs. Even when I went off "atkins" I always kept my carbs low for the most part otherwise the pounds just come back on like wild fire. I really think for PCOS the only treatment is a low carb diet. Good luck

              Hi,
Just wanted to add that if you like fish, salmon is a great source to get your fat intake. So healthy for you as well.
Also, it's a great idea to get in MUFAS. Monounsaturated fats. These are extremely healthy fats. They target losing the belly fat. You will find MUFAS in avacados (allowed a 1/2 an avacado a day), olives (green or black, allowed 10-20 a day), nuts & seeds, olive oil, sesame oil, canola oil and chocolate. To name just a few.

                  Re: Hi

Sherri - I love Salmon, eat it all the time, excellent, that will continue to be a healthy form of fat for me. I also love avacados, I try to stay away from them while in Induction because I can't seem to stop at 1/2...I have to eat the entire thing, but they are a fav of mine and I will work on the portion issues....lol.

Elizellen - do you make your pate yourself? What is the recipe? Is it legal on Induction? Thanks for the suggestion!

Jumped on the scale this AM. I know I'm losing when I look straight down and only see chest, no belly, well that is what I saw this AM so I got on the scale again...271.5...still 1.5lbs higher than the scale at the gym, but at least it is not 278 again this AM ! when I hit 259 I will take a deep breath and know I'm on the right rack...why 259? Because I've been through the 260s so many times since Mid Feb that I just don't trust those numbers anymore.

I want to thank all of you for being so motivating, I feel great this AM!!!!!

I've decided not to hit Fitday until I've finished all the foods I cooked this weekend, today is Wednesday and I think I have at least two more days worth of food, I have my chicken tenders (rolled in pork rinds) my meatballs (several of those, made with ground beef 80% lean, oninons, a few spices and two eggs and two crumbled up oopsie rolls) I dip them in yellow mustard...really good, they are really really small...I have no idea why I made them sooooo small and I have one more serving of bisque (which I can not for the life of me dump out...it is soooo good and soooo healthy, but I will limit my carbs during the AM - chicken and meatballs in order to have the bisque for dinner). I am searching like crazy for my Atkins book (I won't purchase another one because I have two already) but I am heading over the the Atkins site to download the induction food list...I will shop from this and only this on Saturday. I will also eat from this exclusively for the next few weeks, I see you have a few options concerning induction here on this board, I will read each and decide with one is right for me. I've never moved into OWL over all these years, I've only done induction...I'm determined to move forward this time, but I want at least the next two weeks STRICT HONEST ATKINS, no foods other than what is on the list, that way when I move into OWL (which scares me beyond belief) I can say I am clean.

Again, thank you all. Anybody in the same boat? Starting OWL soon? If so I'd love a buddy.

                    Re: Hi

Ok, I just got back from the gym, I really love being back. The scale at my home this morning read 271.5 much better than the 278 yesterday! The gym states I'm 265. Needless to say I've decided to go by the gym scale which, if correct shows a loss this week of 5lbs...since Monday...I think I'm on the right track. Thank you for all your help, now I need to find a good challenge just to have a group to hang out with.

                        Re: Hi

Well good morning all. I started eating clean yesterday, the only thing is that I did not have enough veggies to call it a true Atkins day. Today I am having my meatballs and salad...no snacks, no shakes. I overslept this AM so I was not able to get on the scale, I did measure and my belly is the same size (that is the only place I measure). I know the belly is the last place to go...it is just such a good sign when you start seeing that happen!

                        Have a great day all

You don't "need" snacks unless you are hungry or went 6 hours without eating. Don't snack just for the joy of snacking, because that's probably what made you gain weight in the first place. Unless you have a crazy schedule, breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually not more than 6 hour apart (e.g. breakfast at 7-8am, lunch at 12-1pm, dinner at 6-7pm).

If you do need to snack, the list is not short at all. You can eat meat, cheese, boiled eggs, veggies, etc. They may not seem like "snack foods", but before Atkins, snacking meant, for most of us, stuffing our faces with junk food. On Atkins, any food on the list of acceptable foods can be used as a snack.

                                Re: Hi

yea, left over meat haha... and a snack is just that.. a snack not a meal. I just eat a few bites for a snack.. Like half a hamburger patty.

                                I have breakfast at 7:00

Lunch at 11:00 because of work

Dinner at 6:00 so that is 7 hours.. I have a small snack when I get home at 4 and that way I don't grub down at dinner...

If you are hungry eat something or you will over eat at the next meal. extra calories will be stored which is why it is better to eat smaller more often so you don't have a big load that you have to burn at once. Also I found I was more hungry during the beginning days of induction as my body got used to it...

I work out from 7 to 8:30 so I sometimes have a small snack around 9:30 because I find myself hungry from working out
