Oh dear I have been having swede I love it mashed when I looked at the carbs they weren't too bad. I think they call it something else in the US to what we call in the UK. The Jelly yes it does have aspartame in it but thought it would be ok ocasionally. thank you Georgiana
Dr. Atkins wrote we should avoid aspartame whenever possible. It stalls many of folks and may cause cravings. Others are okay with it though. I'm not a big fan of artificial sweeteners in general, so I rarely use any... but aspartame stalls me.
Swede is called rutabaga in the US. [And between the two of us, I actually know it is not allowed until Rung 8 because I once gave a wrong advice about it to someone on the board (I thought it falls into the same category as turnips)... and another moderator (liv) corrected me.]

By the way, you can make your own jelly. There are a few recipes on Linda's website. One is here: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes
Is there a purely sweetner free kool-aid?...all of the sugar free kool-aids (which that recipe calls for, as I have looked at wanting to make it before) all of the one's I've found have aspartame, which I know i'm personally trying to avoid...

It's been a while since I've looked at Kool-Aid, but there is an unsweetened variety.

The original packs, which are usually 5/$1, are unsweetened--the kind from your childhood when we actually had to pour the packet in a pitcher and add sugar and water to make Kool-Aid. Back when we wouldn't dream of giving our children chemicals that mimic the taste of sugar.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

i will have to look at those! of course, all I looked at were the "sugar-free" variety - which ALL have aspartame.
course, i really want to stay AWAY from all sweet things - and i'm afraid that even unsweetened kool-aid would "taste sweet" to me.

Isn't it weird that nowadays seeing the words 'sugar free' on a product means it is sweetened with an artificial sweetener rather than just that it has no sugar in it!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies? Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Yes. I know - it's extremely aggrivating when you're trying to be "sugar free" yet everything that IS has some sort of sweetener in it!
IMHO, "sugar free" should be exactly that - sugar FREE - course, I kno that technically sweeteners aren't "sugar"...

It won't. I have never liked sweets and my favorite fruit is a lemon eaten just like an orange. I use the original packs of Kool-Aid in the few times I want something with taste by adding a bunch of it to plain water and putting no sweetener in it. This is what I use when I am craving fruit. I put about a half of a pack of the lemonade flavor in 16 ounces of water and it hits the spot. Nice and sour!
Incidentally, I just tried making cherry Jell-O with two packages of Knox unflavored gelatin, one pack of Cherry Flavor Kool-Aid and liquid Splenda, which has no carbs. I'll let you know how it turns out after it cools and jells. When I make my no-bake cheesecakes, I always use the Knox, unsweetened Kool-Aid and Splenda, but I have never just made Jell-O with it.
