That's correct. Just make sure you add 3 cups of veggies to them.

of course i am going to eat fruit, veggies and whole grains..i just want to lose 10-15 pounds.
Moving directly to OWL after the first two weeks of Induction is a great decision.

          Re: 2 weeks and nothing?

You've received alot of good advice here. Eat your daily intake of veggies. Eating less veggies does not 'jump start' this program.

Even if you weren't working out, 1000 cals a day is not nearly enough to meet your BMR and sustain your health. No one should eat under 1200 cals a day (and this would most likely be the bmr of a small inactive woman). Your body is going into starvation mode and will hold onto everything because it thinks there is a famine. This is part of human biology.

The fact that you only have 10-15 lbs to lose, and are now older, is going to be a huge factor in this as it seems you are aware. That combined with not eating enough, and not eating the proper amount of veggies, will just complicate this issue more.

Why not try checking out the links that Liv provided as a refresher. I respect the fact that you lost weight already on this woe and have kept it off for 10 years, this is awesome! however...this time around with your age as you mentioned and your lower weight are most likely going to make it very different.

i went from 290 to 180 in less than a year and AND AND doubled my strength which most of you will never do.
As for the non supportive tone, it is comments like this that come accross as non supportive. I just thought I'd clarify this as well.

If you google BMR calculators, you can get an idea of what your daily calorie range should be at a minimum, which can be very important especially if you are working out.

You are not eating enough, plain and simple. 1000 calories a day? That's starving. Your body is protesting and holding onto fat because its not sure if its going to get another meal!

If you are still weight training, you need to eat more. I used to train a few years ago and ate about 3000 cals per day and still managed to lose about 2 pounds a week...and I am female and was in my mid-30s at that time.

Follow the rules of induction, no tweaking, and you will see results. Its that simple.

            Good luck!

yeah im not good at following rules so i will try better.

i understand that what i said sounded mean and unsupportive, thats not how i meant for it to come across..i just mean at one time i had it down better than most and now come in crawling on my belly for help..hahahahaha...and it is hard for people to diet and gain strength..most wont..but i trust we ALL will lose weight and get healthy thats for darn sure!!! GO US!!

              eh....

                OWL = Ongoing Weight Loss

It's the second phase of the Atkins diet. It is during OWL when you add back nuts, diary, fruits, grains, etc.

i think i am following induction...im sticking to more eggs and meats and some cheeses which the link you provided said was induction phase one foods...staying away from processed foods and looking at all nutritional info for carb counts etc...even changed vitamins cause they had some carbs...

i know im under 20 carbs because my ketosis stick in in the darkest shade..its is more black than purple...

so i am going to go back and re read the induction phase one to make sure i am on track..

                    thanks everyone.

I was 55 years old (female) when I started Atkins by the book the second time and I lost over 120 pounds in less than a year--eating my veggies and moving up the carb ladder in OWL (ongoing weight loss). When my losses slowed down on induction, they speeded back up when I started adding in more and more veggies. The more I upped my fat and calories, the more I lost. Counterintuitive, but it works.

The first time I did Atkins, I was five years younger, but I did it more like you are doing it this time. I figured that if 20 grams of carbs was good, then 10 grams of carbs must be better. I never got that Atkins is high fat, not high protein the first time around, so I kept my calories low by eating lower fat. I never moved out of induction and didn't eat near as many veggies. I lost 60 pounds in the same amount of time that it took me to lose 102 pounds the second time (10 months). I never did lose any more than the 60 pounds the first time. I stayed on Atkins for several more months without ever losing another ounce.

Dr. Atkins knew what he was talking about when he wrote about how to do induction, followed by OWL. Reading the book and following it exactly has allowed me to lose weight faster and keep it off longer by not trying to tweak the diet to make it work faster by methods that were actually counter-productive.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

yeah i need to get over myself as far as thinking i am much smarter than the man who wrote the book...although his original ideas have been tweaked over the years..and actually the 1st atkins book and what is known as the atkins diet now is very different. now whole grains are talked about..as well as more fruit and stuff...it did start off as high protein, meat and eggs..

i need to get the most updated tweaked book.

I've read all of the Atkins books, and you're right - the plan put out by Atkins Nutritionals (the company) is different than the plan we follow here.

I wouldn't waste my money on the most update, tweaked book. What you need is the last book written by Dr. Atkins, himself. That is the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, and the book that this board is based upon. It will teach you about the plan, why it works, and how to do OWL (the most important phase, in my opinion). That's where you add back carbs, including fruit and whole grains... we don't follow the first book put out by Dr. Atkins.

i meant the 2002 book sorry...i didnt mean a book by anyone else...i read the older book 15 years ago and followed it so i have some catching up to do...

at any rate..both work..the new one is more healthy..

any diet that doesnt allow some cheat meals, some fruit and stuff is almost criminal..lol...

i kept 90% of the weight off simply because my metabolism changed after doing atkins for a year..but i notice..if you eat whatever you want ...at some point the weight will come back..in my case i ate like fool for 18 months and didnt gain a pound..then it slowly came back, i put it in check by induction again ..and now decided that im not calling it a diet, i just want to eat good food! and fruit, veggies, a nice steak, whole grains breads..thats good eating!!!!!

i also realized that without exercise all of this is just an illusion..your not healthy unless you work out...just because you can get into your skinny jeans doesnt mean your healthy...

"Cheat meals" are not allowed on Atkins either. Fruit and "stuff", i.e. diary, nuts, fruits, legumes, grains, etc. are all introduced back into your diet during OWL. It's not cheating. So if you want to eat a potato, all you have to do is slowly climb the "carbohydrate ladder" up to OWL Rung 8 and have that potato. If you want a slice of whole grain bread, you add it back as part of OWL Rung 9.

i shouldnt use the word cheat meal then. i meant something that is higher in carbs such as a mexican dinner or a slice of pizza.

you see..the slice of pizza isnt the enemy...i couldnt stop at 1 slice..or 2..or 3 ..lol...that was the problem..my friends that were skinny would eat what? 1 slice usually..lol...gee i wonder why they are skinny huh? and why am i fat i would wonder? lol....so i had to control the insane urge to eat way more of a food that i should...and now..if i eat a small meal no matter what it is, i am satisfied...
