  • Constant Hunger Issues

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured the main forum would work best.

I eat. And I swear it’s like my body doesn’t even recognize that I ate - 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour later, I’m still hungry. Actual hunger pains. I don’t have any other symptoms for thyroid problems. I am on the Induction phase. I started back in September and lost 12 lbs the first two weeks, so I doubt it's thyroid. I’ve been like this as long as I can remember, some days are not so bad, others, like today, is annoying beyond belief.

Any advice? Should I just eat more once it's been an hour? Should I suck it up and deal with it? See a doctor? But what should I have them check for?

    Re: Constant Hunger Issues

I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND!!! I'm right there with you. I am only hungry in the hours at work though. I don't know why. Morning, noon and afternoon. Starvin marvin!! When I come home, I have to make myself eat dinner!! I have found hunger pains and thirst pains feel exactly the same for me. I'm telling you when I feel hungry at work, I down a 24 ounce bottle of water and guess what?? After a few minutes, I couldn't eat if I wanted to!! The hunger feeling mimics thirst very very well! Do try this out. If nothing else, your water intake will dramatically increase and that helps with the pounds lost!

      Hey,
thanks but I know that's not it. I drink at least 72 ounces of water throughout the day, if I drank any more I don't think I'd leave the bathroom lol.

let us know what you're eating. Do you have enough fat in every meal? Someone correct me if i'm wrong but I think you're supposed to have 64oz a day plus 8 more for every 10lbs you want to lose? I might be screwing that up but i'd try drinking water when you feel hungry. It doesnt have to be a whole big bottle of it, but see if it helps.

I take a food journal so...

Breakfast: eggs 4, 3 slices of bacon, pepper
Lunch: pepperjack cheese stuffed chicken breast, green beans
Snack: Celery sticks and LC Swiss Cheese

An hour later.... I'm really hungry, actual pain

160g Beef Fajita and 1 serv Cheese and some more green beans... shockingly enough...it didn't go way..so...

          an hour later....

          4 eggs, 1 slice bacon....

and that's where I am now.

My stomach. Still hungry. Though not as bad. I'm going to drink some water. Ill report back in 30m or so.

How about taking a fiber pill with a glass of water.

                Re: Constant Hunger Issues

The only thing I can think of is that you are having low blood sugar episodes, but you eat plenty and it has plenty of fat so that your sugar shouldn't take a dive. Four eggs should fill anyone up.

The only times I have not been able to get full and felt like my stomach ached with hunger was when I was drinking cinnamon tea, which is naturally very sweet, but has no calories. Cinnamon lowers blood sugar, so when I drank it after dinner, I couldn't stop eating and never felt full. I would have to keep getting up to eat something else just so I could get to sleep. I have a rule of not eating after dinner and I don't usually even want anything. Since I stopped drinking the cinnamon tea, I never even think about eating after dinner.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

yeah, I know I am eating plenty. So when my stomach started growling 5 minutes ago I called my mom and asked about Thyroid problem history. Just as I thought, nothing, but I am going to go ahead and make an apt with my clinic for next week.

I think that is best. When I saw your title I was prepared to just tell you to eat more, but it is evident that you are eating enough with enough fat that you shouldn't be feeling hungry.

I did have another thought. You don't say how long you have been this way. Have you been on a plateau or stall? A lot of us have gotten really hungry at the end of a long plateau. It's like the body is trying hard to encourage you to stay this weight and not go any lower. Most of us had a big "woosh" after a few days of excess hunger.

The other thing is you are still on induction after six months. Maybe it is time to move on to OWL. Hunger could be your body's way of saying, "Give me something besides Induction foods!"

I'm sorry that you are going through this, because the couple of weeks that I went through it was enough to drive me bonkers.

                        Re: Constant Hunger Issues

Another suggestion would be coconut oil! It really does seem to help with low blood sugar issues. I ate some celery today with ranch dressing and some pumpkin. I almost passed out on my desk!! It couldn't have been more than 10 carbs snacking throughout the morning and I thought I was going to fall over on a day I NEEDED to be on top of everything and achieve the impossible. You might enjoy reading some of the coconut oil threads. When I wasn't low carbing, I still ate spoonfuls of the stuff. It kept me from NEEDING to fill a void I knew wasn't empty and it also kept me from needing that Coke and a candy bar. If you give it a week or two, it could work wonders for you.

                          Hey,

I was on induction for about 3 months perfectly. then. I had a 3 month breakdown: I'd go a few weeks great, then I'd go back to regular normal eating for a while...go back...switch...dance around....... So I have actually been eating regularly for the past couple of weeks, and have gone back to being on Induction or the past...well today is day 3.

As for how long I've had this problem - on and off as long as I can remember. Some days are not so bad, other days are horrendous. I always thought I was nuts, constantly being hungry. I am going to stick it out though, two weeks on perfect induction and then I AM going to switch, no more lolling through extended induction no matter how much I want to.

If you just started induction you may be going through carb withdrawal. Then eating is a good thing to do till ketosis sets in.
So what about your water consumption?
