  • Do I change my target weight or be happy with what I have?

    Well,

    After four and a bit months on this WOE I have now surpassed my original target of 133lbs by 1lb! I am currently 132 down from 175 last year...


    But I think I could go a little lower (I am only 5ft 2ins) I am on Owl Rung 5 now and my weightloss continues albeit at a more leisurely pace.

    My OH says I don't need to lose more weight as I am now back to the weight I was when we met, but having found something that works I am keen to get to the best me I can possibly be...

    I am so pleased to look at my ticker and see my goal reached - but don't know if I should set myself a new goal and go for it or just accept my success so far...

    What do people think??

    YAY for you, Fleur!! What a horrible dilemma you find yourself in!! I think you should absolutely decide which weight you're happier at!! If it's an even lower weight, make sure you're climbing through all the rungs to get there. The variety of foods you'll be eating will give you an idea of how easy it will be for you to maintain that weight. I think sometimes it's relatively easy to get to goal and the real battle is staying there!! You really can't go by what anyone else thinks though. It's a very personal choice when establishing what weight you want to be at. Good luck and keep us informed of what you decide!!

      Thanks Everlosing... I have been looking at charts and calculators and I realise my BMI has just entered the "Healthy Weight" range... so I think I could happily lose another 10 -12lbs realistically without going OTT...

      I think I'm going to enjoy my ticker being at target for a day or two then change it to show my goal as 120. Why not shoot for the moon!!!

        I had a weight goal but have removed it.I will lose weight till I stop.Will eat when I'm hungry and only when I'm hungry.Will stop eating when I'm full.Have no ideal what that weight will be.Really handicap yourself when you grab a number and put it as your goal.My goal is to be lean, not a number.

              Wow what a wonderful progress you have had. Congratulations on reaching goal.

              I think losing a few more is not going to a health issue. Why not continue to move up the rungs - figure out what you can eat of the last few rungs and how you can make Atkins into a sustainable lifestyle for you.

                  WOW!! You started exactly where I am today and have arrived exactly where I want to be!! INSPIRING!

                  How long did it take you to get to this weight? And did you excercise?

                  I am starting on Monday and love reading about these successes!! I can't wait to be a inspiration to someone else

                    I would just follow the rungs, find your CCLL, and just keep going as if losing is a normal part, (which it is) your body will magically stop losing at the right spot when you hit maintenance.

                    Weighing what you once weighed when you got married sounds romantic. Weighing what you can to live the longest and be the healthiest you can be sounds even more romantic

                      Congrats fleur!! I agree with you - as long as you feel good and those around you aren't concerned you have taken your weight loss too far it's your decision where you stop. You have done wonderfully this far and have gotten your health back - that's the best measure of what you have accomplished!

                        Good for you!
                        This happened to me the first time around - I hit goal and then lost another 3 lbs. My body felt good at that weight and it worked for me.
                        I would keep at it.
                        Think about how you decided on your goal - was it a weight you were happy at - and were you working out when you were at that weight before. Or did you get that weight from a chart that told you that is what you are 'supposed to be'.

                          Congratulations! I think its a very personal decision, it depends on how you feel about yourself, and also, since you are only on rung 5, I would continue on with the next 4 rungs and see what happens. YAY! I can't wait to be making a post like this myself

                            I started Atkins on Decmber 16th last year but had a small hiatus over Christmas and restarted induction January 2nd.

                            I do try to exercise - but as mum to an 11 month old it has been sporadic - I try do a 25 min workout or a 20 min static bike while he has his afternoon nap, but to be honest I miss it more days than I manage! However, running around after him keeps me constantly on the go, and I try and take walks with the pushchair whenever I can!

                            Good luck - you will get there if you stick at it!

                              Thanks everyone for your lovely replies - it does feel good to have go this far and I am glad others might take hope from it....

                              As I said before I think I'm going to aim for 120lbs - my frame and height can easily take the extra loss and I would (will!) feel like the yummiest of mummies if (when!) I make it!
