  • OWL porridge

    Hi.

I have been having a small cup of porridge every morning now, and I am still losing my pounds!(just need 14lbs more) YAY!!! Just wanted to ask if anyone knows how to prepare it without Full Fat milk. I am in the UK so i really don't know about any creams they have here.
    Hope you can help.
Just want to be a strict lady even tho the 60ml I add to my half cup have not made me gain nothing at all, actually lsot and have no cravings.
    Just wanted to know.
    Thanks

      Re: OWL porridge

First off, porridge is made from oats, or a grain product, is it not? Grains are not allowed until rung 9.

I actually make an AWESOME "hot cereal" in the mornings that can be induction friendly. On induction you are allowed up to 2 tbsp of flax seeds.
      2 tbsp flax seeds
      4 tbsp water
      1 egg white
1 packet of splenda (count the carb)

mix those together, microwave for 1 minute

remove, mix again with fork and add anything that might be induction friendly...

course this might be better for the nuts/berries rungs because I also add a tbsp of peanut butter & 1/4 cup of berries...

I would try using 1/2 single cream 1/2 water in place of the milk.

As you are on rung 9 you could use milk if you like Unless you discovered on rung 2 that milk affects you adversely.

Wow you got to rung 9 rather fast. I spent a year getting there. It took you three weeks?

                    Re: OWL porridge

I think what Liv was getting at was that you posted on 11 May that you had started induction the day before, so have not had time to progress through the 9 rungs of OWL yet

From DANDR you will see that in OWL we start with the first rung and add 5 net carbs more of the induction veggies, then if all goes well and the losing continues we move the next week to the 2nd rung and try adding 5 more net carbs of dairy (milk, yogurt, soft cheeses) then the next week add 5 more net carbs of nuts/seeds and so on up the 9 OWL rungs.

Many of us spend longer than the one week to test a variety of that rung's new foods.

As grains are the last level/rung of the carbohydrate ladder it ought to take at least 10 weeks from starting induction to get to the stage of adding 5 net carbs of oats to your menus. BTW 5 net carbs of the oats I buy is about 10 grams - a very small amount.

well I have to say I am not really in OWL 9 i put that cause I have added my oats to my diet and its actually still working cause I just lost another2 lbs.
I added just half a cup more of veggies too so I am actually in OWL 1. So its really good now I am probably in OWL1/9 ...hehe.....Its just the oats that I did add, and I know its naughty but its working for me, and I am still getting no craving!

                        Re: OWL porridge

I thought that was probably the case

Depending on how many carbs of the oats you are adding, it must mean you have a fairly high CCLL which is great

Maybe you can adjust your Atkins phase in your profle down to level one and add to your signature something about the oats to avoid confusing other members trying to advise you?
