I was raised with a saying that I passed to my step-daughter "You're no better than anyone and no one is better than you."

I decided a long time ago once I was able to get past the snide remarks my mother has made to me all my life I could get over whatever anyone else thinks. I have one person that I'm accountable to in my life and that's person is me, when I look in the mirror in the morning I like the person who is looking back at me now.

This is also a reason that when you lose or are losing your weight and becoming slimmer and healthier, you'll find some people who were your "friends" will slowly stop being your friends. That's because as you improve yourself, you lose your usefulness to them. In other words, the healthier and happier you are, they worse they feel about themselves. See they really don't care about you. If they did they would stop you from falling off and encourage you to stick to your diet plan, rather than convincing you it's okay to "reward" yourself or "take the night off", etc.

Totally correct. That's why sometimes I sit back, spent a quiet moment or two, and re-evaluate who my true friends are.

Friends suppose to encourage. They should feel happy for you when you accomplish a personal and very important goal that makes you feel proud of who you are.

              Re: Day of confessions

Well, I have to admit Megs is more right day after day... Last week was a tough one. I "thought" I was back on track after my 1 day off, but by Wednesday afternoon, Thursday I was getting back to my old habits of picking off of the girls food, taking a drink of chocolate milk, a bit of their cereal, ect. Then friends came over and she had baked my favorite cake, so of course b/c of constant cheating/picking, it was fairly easy to choose the cake without thinking twice. Now of course the scale is up 2 pounds. Then yesterday some of our friends and DH and I all went to the beach. I was playing volleyball and having a good time. As we were walking back to the car, I saw my reflection and raised my arms to see what I looked like while playing.. wow... what an ugly sight. And that is when DH reminded me to keep that image in my mind the next time I think about eating off plan. He says yeah 2 pounds is not a lot but it is affecting you and how much time it will take to get to goal. Sigh... Any ways my cravings are getting back undercontrol and I've got some extra food ready for when I "need" something... so hopefully I'm good to go again. Will definatly find a different comfort solution next time.

Jeannette~ Today is weigh in, right? How are you doing? If your ticker is right, I see something is not Okay! Do you need to say something?

It is okay if it takes me a little longer to get there, besides this is where I'm going to stay forever and that is a really long time!!!

                Re: Day of confessions

Just that my body ALWAYS does this to me!!

I've been in ketosis (and on track) for the last couple weeks. I've been getting the water down but was kinda lax on the exercise last week. It seems that everytime I get around 160-165, my body just wants to stay there. As I look back, when I got up to that weight, I was there for a long time. I remember doing Atkins at that time (the '72 version) and going to the gym every day but Sunday. High impact aerobics, Body Pump class (I loved the old Body Pump classes back then), and nothing. Not a lb., and I'm talking about a couple months. Before that, I took on WW for about 6 weeks. At the end of 6 weeks (with the instructor rolling her eyes at me every week when I swore I was on plan) I had lost 3 lbs. So, all I can do is stay the course and wait. It will happen, it has to, I'm not going to give up as I've done in the past!!

I'm so proud of you!! You're getting "life's lessons" and that will go far to get you to your goal!!

Now, I'm off to cook up a batch of hamburgers on the grill. I'm sticking with grilled hamburger and roasted chicken thighs for a couple days (along with the veggies) and see if I can break out of this mold!

Glad you are doing great Jeannette... Gosh I hate that your body is not giving in the right way. I know you track your food in spark people, how many calories are you averaging? How much protein do you eat a day... is there any way you are over looking something. Just a LLLOOONNNGGG shot!! I know you're probably not and it is just your body being as determined as you to not let go of the weight... hahaha... I'm sure you will show it who is the boss!!!

                    Re: Day of confessions

                    Yeah, I'm the boss!!! Right???

I stay between 1,200 and 1,500 (usually somewhere in between) and my carbs to fat to protein percentages are in line with what Atkins recommends. I just have to be patient, although I do have to say there are some days when it's tough! But I refuse to fall back into the mind set "it's not working, so why bother" because then I'll fail myself. And it's not just the weight. I'm off my blood pressure and pain meds. If I fall back into the carb mud, I'll lose all those benefits! Nope!! Not gonna do that!!!

Ldyj-Looks like we are alike, when I started trying to loose weight I was 182 lbs and lost the first 10 super fast, in less than 3 weeks. When I hit 164 I could not loose any weight for over a month and I was loosing my mind, somehow I pressed on and at about the 5ft week started loosing again, I am at 156 now and want to loose another 25 lbs. I am wondering if there is another number I will have trouble with like for example 140? Ha!

Could well be, Cindy! I can map my gain and just about how long I stayed at each miserable level. I remember when I got to 130, I cried and moaned "how much more am I going to gain!?" Little did I know my body was about to take me on a weight gaining journey that would last almost 20 years! Lawd, I wish I was at 130 again!

Your story is words of inspiration to me! Thanks for sharing!

Here's my confession for today - think y'all can handle it!!??

I'm STILL at 165 (+/- oz.) and my husband, bless his heart, is down an additional 2 lbs!

I confess that he's making me proud while MY body is driving me to distraction! Ah well, if Cindy can hang in there, so can I. I can't wait to get below 160 though.

Sham, get well, that's the most important thing. Then you can confess to how much weight you've lost from being sick!

It's me again, this time with a confession. I've stayed on plan for Rung 3, which would entitle me to have 1/2 cup of my own low carb ice cream. But I didn't stop with one serving, I had 3! Stayed in ketosis, and was right back to clean plan immediately. Ah, well, I try but I can't always be absolutely perfect!!
