  • i need help???

    hi
    im a 28 year old female from India ...and since 8th may i was on "egg diet"

    although i have not lost much weight .. iv reduced more on the inches .

    it still is not what it should have been.. for a month i ate just boiled egg white..lots of milk ...(skimmed) and some meat on/off.

    i do not eat pork ... !

    well i can live with chicken .. love chicken infact ... but now im just giving up ..can anyone help?

    starting weight>>151.8 lbs

    now>>146.3 lbs.

    il appreciate any help.


    Also .. is it ok to drink diet soda/ lemonade with sugar free??

    Welcome to !

    What you are doing right now isn't Atkins, which would be okay if it were some other healthy way of losing weight. But from what you are saying, your diet appears to be low in calories, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, fiber, etc. thus lacking the nutrients your body needs to maintain its health.

    Since you came here, I am assuming you want to follow Atkins and work not only towards a slimmer you, but also towards a healthier you. I don't know if you have the book or if you can order it on Amazon, but if not, there are sticky threads on top of the "14-day Induction" forum where it is explained how the Induction phase of Atkins should be followed correctly. Atkins does not mean only egg, meat and diary. First of all, Atkins is a high fat, moderate protein, low carbohydrate diet. During the Induction phase, which lasts for a minimum of 14 days, you are allowed to eat a variety of red meat, poultry, fish, shellfish, aged cheeses, vegetables, fats (oil, butter, etc.). You are also allowed to have 10-20 olives, 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice, some cream, half an avocado, etc. Net carbohydrates (that is, total carbohydrates minus dietary fiber) are limited to no more than 20 grams per day and over half of them should come from vegetables. You are supposed to eat 3 cups of vegetables per day---Atkins without veggies is not Atkins.

    You said you are "just giving up". If you have been doing this "egg diet" thing since May, this is not surprising. It's not only that food becomes very boring when all you're eating are egg whites (did you know that it's the yolk that has the most nutrients, not the egg white?), chicken and milk, but after a while your body will start sending emergency signals, asking for more nutrients.

    Diet sodas. They are still sweet, so they must be sweetened with something. This "something" is often aspartame or Splenda (sucralose). Dr. Atkins recommended avoiding aspartame whenever possible, as he observed many of his patients were stalled by it. On the other hand, diet sodas sweetened with Splenda are allowed; however they do not count towards your daily water intake (minimum 64 oz) and one serving (8 oz) should be counted as one serving of sweetener (the limit is 3 servings of sweetener per day).

    Please read the info in the threads I linked above and tweak your diet so that you reach your goal weight while also improving your health, which is what Atkins is about. By the way, what are your stats (height, goal weight, etc.)?

    Are you taking any nutritional supplements? Do you also exercise?

      my height is 5'2 .
      stats>> 40-34-40

      my goal weight is 5o kilos.
      present weight is 66.5 kilos.

      yup i was not exactly doing atkins..but a form. actually my husband lost 8 kilos in 1 month by that diet .


      but me.../


      yeah i work out ..not that much but thirty minutes a day . there is this caplet "x12" by GNC i take that before work out .

      & ocassionaly i have protein shakes .

      can you tell me if I stick to the diet by when can i achieve my goal weight ?

        Is he sure 8 kg is the only thing he has lost? What I mean by this is, did his doctor give him the okay for following such a diet? Did he have a medical exam before starting the diet and periodical exams while/after doing it?

        Well, unless they contain only protein isolates, protein shakes are not allowed before OWL Rung 2 of Atkins (this if they have whey protein; otherwise they are only allowed in higher rungs).

        It's impossible to say. On one hand because you are not following Atkins and I don't have experience with your diet, and on the other hand because even if you were following Atkins it would depend on what your lean body mass is, on how you are following the rules, on what your degree of metabolic resistance is, on your food intolerances and so on.

        As I've said in my previous post, I do not consider the diet you are following to be healthy. It is a deprivation diet similar to Kimkins (definitely not Atkins!) and you can check what this kind of diet may do to your health if you just google "Kimkins survivors". It's good that you want to reach a healthy weight, but being skinny and sick is not an inch better than being overweight, imo.

          That is not really a diet you were doing - that is dangerous stuff to play around with only eating lean protein. You will lose muscle mass and your metabolism will lower. You can lose hair and damage your thyroid.

          Do you want to know how fast you can lose on Atkins? We do not know as we are all different. The way we chose to look at it is that it is not a race. We are changing to becoming healthy, eating whole food and plenty of vegetables and we are in it for life. Are you ready for that kind of a change?

            hi
            no he did not visit any doctor before going on the "egg" diet. but his work out was much much more than i do..heavier weights.. etc.

            im so desperate to lose weight & now in a way iv just lost the will... i dont feel like eating eggs/meats/chicken ...

            yeah i want to become thin.. look sexy and cute ... but i feel so helpless now.

            All the gym's are about half an hour drive from my home..so im begging my husband to buy me a treadmill.

            i really dunno .. im in India..& i do not have so many options ( example> no proper shakes etc )

            but iv seen people "huger" than me shrink ...


            any help appreciated .

                If you read the links I gave you above, you will see that shakes are not on the Induction acceptable foods list. I never had a shake while on Atkins, not even as I moved to OWL. So Atkins is not about drinking shakes and eating bars---you are supposed to eat real food: vegetables, meat, cream, butter, oils, cheese, etc.

                  actually due to the high protein diet (last month) im at a breakdown


                  . BTW.. for ten days im visiting my parents , and the gym is walking distance. Im thinking of taking spinning classes and seeing the differnce combined with proper atkin diet .

                  im absolutely addicted to diet soda/ lemonade/etc i need something to drink .
                  i know its not allowed but is it really that bad???

                    Yep, yep, yep and yep... but no sauce I'm afraid, unless you make it yourself without sugar or other "illegal" ingredients.

                    Good for you! Exercise is a mandatory part of Atkins and combining the eating part of Atkins with the exercise part is how you will get the best results.

                    Since you won't be home, have a few copies of the Induction acceptable foods list (in the link above) with you and check this list whenever you are uncertain if some food is allowed. Also prepare an emergency kit, in case there will be times with no "legal" food available. Here are some tips from Kent: YouTube - Atkins Diet: Low Carb Emergency Kit

                    We are all different, so something that might not affect me at all may affect you "really bad"; we might also have different definitions of what "really bad" is.

                    To maximize your weight loss results, I would not recommend diet sodas or lemonade, as many people see a stall or slowdown in their weight loss when consuming diet drinks. But if you decide to have them, you should not forget to count each serving (8 oz) towards your daily sweetener limit of 3 packets/servings.

                        No, I mean you can have maximum 24 oz of soda per day (you should avoid aspartame though), which is less than 750 mL. However, this only holds assuming sodas are your only source of sweetener.

                        Also .. no tomato sauces ?
                        Tomato sauce is allowed if it contains only allowed ingredients. For example, yesterday I bought a tomato puree that has only tomatoes and salt, so it is "legal". Ketchup on the other hand has some tomatoes, but it also has added sugar, so it is not "legal".

                        So how do you make your food tastier ???

                        It's all in my signature---height, starting date, weight and dress size. The weight is in lbs, the numbers underneath are US dress sizes.

                          hi there

                          sorry i was not able to be online, my internet connection was "down".

                          so .. In the past iv lost about 6 kilos when i did Atkins .. and well I celebrated and got bigger ..

                          so now my two concerns are >1. its too hot in my country..and the hot meat/chicken can get you pimples etc .(weather)

                          2.and i only have a choice of grilled chicken..grilled meat/lamb and mushrooms and cottage cheese . the choice of food is limited .

                          but somehow it still ""looks"" easier than the other fruit diet .


                          im size 16 (USA/UK)

                          my boobs..( which i hate_) .. my bra size is 102 c..(38 dd)

                          Also.. my mom.. she keeps on insisting that i should not leave bread.. but as i read .."you have to get immuned to thel criticizing "

                          Well for veggies I can have salads.. etc .. there is not limitation here i guess .

                          is milk allowed as, i drink milk for b/fast .

                            You do not have the book?
                            Check this link for what you can have/cannot have/ We only eat what is legal. Everything else is off limit in the induction phase.

                              i do not have the book.
                              but i know the do's and dont's.

                              today is my first day

                              had green tea and boiled egg for b/fast.

                              and 3 pcs of grilled chicken for lunch.


                              i do miss sipping diet sodas .

                              and i have to start working out soon.

                              i just hope i can do it .
