    Re: mmm...coffee....

Yeah, thanks for putting it in perspective for me you two. I just get a little obsessed with the rules sometimes, ya know? And boy, was I hungry! (It isn't like I had a piece of cake or anything...haha)

Thanks for all your help everyone!

I know I will have more questions to come!

      Re: mmm...coffee....

      Hi there,

While caffeine and diet soda can certainly cause problems for many people on this WOE, I personally haven't had any problems with it thus far. I've always been able to lose consistantly on this WOE as long as I am eating the proper foods, even though I drink coffee every day and the occasional diet soda. I also regularly check my blood glucose levels and have seen no ill affects as far as caffeine goes...my blood sugar is very stable as long as I'm eating the right things and i don't experience any cravings. That's my experience, but everyone is different and I know caffeine and aspartame cause many people problems/craving/unstable blood sugar...I also keep aware that eventually down the road its possible caffeine could cause me problems and if it does, i'll have to work it out of my diet, but in the mean time I feel fine having my regular coffee.

If you're new to this WOE I think its probably a good idea not to have the coffee and diet cokes during induction so you can have a more accurate idea of your degree of metabolic resistance. You'd have no way of knowing that unless you did induction by the book, which would mean decaff and no diet cokes...

        Re: mmm...coffee....

For years I have been staying away from caffeine. I just react badly to it, it seems to make me extremely jittery. I have noticed that it raises my blood sugars. I'm a diabetic so it's of high importance that I keep my sugars down in the normal range. So, I guess if it raises blood sugars in some folks it would also cause cravings and hunger.
