  • Question about trans fat?

I will start by saying I have read that New Diet Revoultion front to back and understand everything very clearly, except for one thing.
Trans Fat. I realize that it is to be avoided, but it seems to be everywhere, All but one of the brands of Hamburger patties in my local store at least contain 1 or two grams of Serving. The only thing that doesnt seem to have it are the Bacon, sausage and the Vegetables. And don't even get me started on Wendy's , Mcdonalds, and Burger King, Its all loaded with it. How do people justify eating at these places, just taking off the bun and ketchup (etc) if the patties have atleast one gram of trans fat? I would Just like to know what everyone else thinks and does in these situations?

    Thank you

    Re: Question about trans fat?

I personally try extremely hard to minimize it. I'd be lying if I said that no bunless McFats were consumed during our move. I make our hamburger patties, too. It's normally a good deal cheaper, healthier, and tastier to boot.

EDIT: I find hamburger patties freeze extremely well, so you can make a bunch of them then put parchment paper between each patty and shove 8 or so into a Ziploc freezer bag. That way, you always have some on hand when the mood strikes you!

Avoid it. It is the one thing I shun as much as sugar.
There are plenty of products that are clean because they are unprocessed - like meat and vegetables. (And because trans fat has a bad name - food producers are coming out with more trans fat free products now)
MacDonald burgers are trans fat free BTW

Not here in the US. There's .5g TF per burger. It's unclear to me whether it's artificial or the naturally occurring kind.

It is the natural occurring thing. The McD burgers are just beef.

Gotcha. I doubt they added any types of oils/ingredients with TF in them.

It's the one naturally occurring in beef. 0.5 g is about the minimum you find in 100 g of raw ground beef.

                    Re: Question about trans fat?

Also in cheese. But the manufacturer is not required to write these on the label, esp. since the amounts are very small.
