  • Down another size in Jeans!

So I don't own a scale, but I do check my weight on my Wii fit I pretty much gauge my success by the jeans I can wear. There's this particular brand and style that I absolutely LOVE and have been slowly going down in size:

December - size 24 is a lil snug. Snug like I gotta lay down to zip em and can't really sit with them on. hehe I love the jeans though so when the zipper breaks (gah!) I must replace. Purchase size 22 because there isn't a 24 to be found... can't get it over my hips, but put in closet for incentive.

January - size 22 still umm... nowhere near fitting me.

    February - start Atkins

early May - find the size 22 in the closet (forgot I bought them!) and I can zip them if I lay down and suck it all in.

mid-June - size 22 is getting a little loose, go buy a size 20. Can't get them over my hips.

July - hubby says "your pants are too big, do you need money to get new jeans?" Try on the 20 that's been in the closet... can lay down and zip them. YAY! Take his money anyway and buy the 18s. Can work them over my hips but not quite button them. Go on ebay and find a cheap pair in my "goal size" and buy them... hung them up in the closet.

August (today) - size 20 is BAGGY. The 18s ZIP.

I celebrate tomorrow by buying a pair of 16s!

    Hi there,

I do this all the time, buy one or two items that are too small for me
and then I fit into them. Now my favourite store does not have any smaller
sizes, I have gone from 38 inch wait to 32 inch waist and am now wearing the
size 32 and 34 and will give my bigger clothes away.

I am only halfway to my goal weight, so see what happens.

    Well done to You.

It's such a great filling and your husband, just giving you money for new jean...he is a keeper. I have to beg and demonstrate why I need money for new things (I am showing why I need a new jean skirt today...). I haven't really gone down many sizes on my hips but my tops keep getting baggier. I started out as a size 38 waist and am now in 33/34s depending on the jeans.

Yay to you and your soon to be new 16s!

That is awesome! That is a lot of hard work and progress on your part. I think that is a lot of change in a short period of time...way to go. Keep up the good work.

PS...I use my Wii Fit to weigh too. This summer I was at my in-laws and used my mother-in-law's scale. It was a different by 8lbs! (my MiL's scale read that I was 8lbs LESS than my Wii). Well, needless to say, I liked my MiL's scale but I stick to my Wii Fit readings to err on the side of caution and to have a consistent reading for me.

        Enjoy your new jeans. Jane

This thread just inspired me to go "digging" through my closet to find some stuff that is too small to look forward to wearing. Thanks!

Congrats on getting into a 16! Wow - I can hardly imagine - that sounds SO SMALL!!!

I don't have a lot of clothes in my closet that are too small...I had a few when I started but have gotten too small for most of them I can't see myself spending a lot of money on clothes that (I hope) won't fit me for long. I am going to have to get some new stuff for fall though - even with a belt, my pants are ridiculously big - and my tops are getting indecent (the neckline seems to drop drastically! Maybe it is because I am short...) A few months ago I'd open the closet & hunt for the loosest/biggest clothes...now I'm rootin' thru, checking tags, trying to find the smaller ones. Guess it is time to clean out the closet!

Thanks for all of your nice comments! My hubby is a keeper.

Weighing on the wii fit is SO not accurate... my son had his sports physical for football this week and the wii fit was UNDER the doctor's scale by 12 pounds. So I made my husband get on it and it was OVER by about 20 pounds for him. So honestly, I have no idea how accurate the middle number of my signature is... but it has definitely been going down!

Re: Down another size in Jeans!

                  JulieB -

Years ago, frustrated with not losing weight, I got rid of everything I had that didn't fit me at that moment. I pretty much had resigned myself to being that size. So right now I'm swimming in most of my clothes too, except for my one pair of jeans and the few shirts I've bought.

I have found, though, that clothes that fit make me look so much smaller than clothes that are too big. So I've been taking the grocery money that I'm saving and slowly adding to my wardrobe.

Re: Down another size in Jeans!

I find my doctor's scales to kind of weird sometimes. And then they make you stand on those with all your clothes and in the middle of the day.

Julie - I always had a closet full of clothes that I may fit into one day. So there were plenty of smaller sizes in there I had not fit into for decades. Totally out of style but kind of fun

Too small clothes are one of my main motivators! I have several favorites from a few sizes back that I occassionally try on. Some actually fit -- not as loosely as I'd like them to, but not so tight that I'm embarrassed to wear them in public.
Next stop -- old Gap jeans that are sooo comfy -- when they fit.
