I was curious how you guys go about weighing. Obviously the weight creeps up a bit throughout the day, so do you weigh first thing in the morning on your weigh days?

Also, how often are you weighing in?

    Re: Weighing

For the first 4 weeks, I only weighed on Fridays first thing in the morning. Now I weigh everyday first thing in the morning. It really helps me keep on track.

      Re: Weighing

I weigh every day, first thing in the morning. I print off calendars from timeanddate.com, and I write down my weight each day, and also how many more pounds I have to go until I reach my goal. When I started this plan I had 61 pounds to lose, now I just have 29! Talk about keeping you motivated. Also, it's very important to take your measurements monthly. Sometimes when you aren't losing pounds you are losing inches...

        Re: Weighing

First thing in the morning is the only way to minimize all the variables.

I weigh every morning whether I like it or not.

              Re: Weighing

I know most people will disagree with me, but I weigh myself a million times a day. The first one in the morning is the only one that counts (also, I made a weight tracker at medhelp.com that's really fun to keep up with). For me, weighing myself keeps me motivated. It's such fun to see that number go down. Yes, there are times that it goes up a little during the day, but this helps me see how water or salt or whatever affect me. When I weigh myself at night, I like to guess how much I'll be in the morning.

My boyfriend, who is also doing Atkins, is firmly in the once-a-week camp. He likes to see that bigger loss, and says he'd drive himself crazy if he weighed every day. I might change my mind when I start to plateau, but as long as I'm steadily losing, I'll still check all the time.

i used to weigh everyday several times a day too but i really feel its bad for me because i was letting it affect how and what i was eating. I only recently given my scales away to someone i trust and managed four days away from the scales this is a accomplishment for me. Anyway now im not planning to weigh again for another 2 weeks. Try and just weigh every 2 weeks from now on. hopefully in that time might have lost a decent amount

I am exactly like Casey.I weigh myself any time I am near my scales throughout the day.I weigh first thing in morning and that is my offical weight.Fridays is when I record it.The scales are now my friend and help me keep a close eye on my body.

I'm no slave to the scale -- I weigh every Monday morning at 7:15 in the morning. The rest of the week I stay off the scale. Rarely have I ever gotten on the scale during the week -- daily would drive me up the wall -- or hourly!

                      Re: Weighing

I'm surprised at the number of people who weigh daily, too. I have found that weighing every morning keeps me aware of my weight and my goals. I KNOW that my weight will fluctuate--I expect it. I only record my weight from Sunday morning, before I drink anything, sans clothes, before my shower, scale centered on the middle tile. I step on three times and record the lowest of the three weights because sometimes there is a discrepancy of a whole pound! During the week if my weight has gone up, I quickly step off and move on with my morning routine. If I have strayed from my eating plan, it helps me to do better, and if I have been really good and been exercising, etc, I blame it on water retention and look forward to tomorrow morning.

                          Re: Weighing

I weigh every morning first thing. I have always been a slave to the scale and have allowed it to dictate my date. Yes, the diet is working or if there is no loss, clearly that meant that Dr. Atkins didn't know what he was talking about... Not this time. I have read enough here to know that it happens, weight fluctuates.

I still weigh every day. Old habits are hard to break.

what the rungs mean to me:
                          rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                          rung 4 - berries, melon
                          rung 5 - wine -
                          rung 6 - beans, hummus
                          rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
                          Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range

I weigh every day, at night though unlike most here. I know my weight can fluctuate and if I get a number that seems too high I like knowing that my night weight isn't my *real* weight anyway, it's actually the 3 or 4 pounds less it would be if I weighed n the morning

Every week on monday morning around 7.30 is my main weigh, however I may also weigh myself one or two more times during the week, always in the morning though. I never panic if there appears to be a gain or stall mid week, as long as my monday weigh in shows a loss.
