If you have not changed your diet by introducing a new food (esp. something you never ate before), going badly off plan, eating more "legal" foods than you should (e.g. too many nuts), taking new medication/supplements, then I would suggest you see a doctor.

omg, now im paniking, all i can think of is i drank some of the juice from a roast chicken the other day????
Could it be the oil from that??
If its nothing to do with the diet then do you think it could be something serious?? maybe i should just give up and accept being fat!!!!

No need to panic. We're not medical experts, which is why we recommended seeing a doctor, because he/she is the only one who can tell you whether everything is okay with you.

Too much oil can cause diarrhea. I'm not sure how much fat/oil was in that thing you drank or how much of it you drank, but I would recommend not drinking fat/oil and rather get your fat in a different way.

And don't give up working on getting smaller and healthier.

First of all, don't drink fat. Just don't do it. There is no need and I really don't see any health reason to do it. This alone can cause diarrhea. I don't think Atkins said anywhere in any of his books that you ought to drink chicken fat.

Secondly, don't panic. Just call the doctor. Tell them the symptoms. It could simply be a stomach bug, or IBS, or something simple but annoying that like. But you should tell them, especially if its lasting days. Its just good sense to let your doc know.

Lastly, stop sabotaging yourself. Comments like the "maybe i should just give up and accept being fat!!!!" are pointless and self-defeating. Don't feed the Drama Llama! Just don't do it! Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and eat something binding..cheese perhaps.

maria - this is a common side effect of taking the diet pill Alli. I hope you aren't taking any supplement that blocks the absorpotion of fat in to your system, and hope your doc has some more info for you tomorrow.

Good luck - dont give up!!

Re: TMI sorry orange oil slick in toilet

I have occassionally had this happen. It was after I ate too much hamburger in the fat, and not eating enough veggies. Soluable fiber works on diareah cause by bugs and stuff, but I prefer the insoluable ones. But I find sometimes my poo does look a bit oily. If I have been eating a lot of fat and meat and not getting enough veggies, I don't worry about it. I know why. More often than not, I have to take the fiber to make up for skimping on the veggies and getting stopped up. I certainly would expect to see an oil slick if I drank the drippings! Okay, I do this on steak sometimes, its not that weird!

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

                    1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
                    2nd mini goal: 140!
                    3rd mini goal:135!
                    4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

This was my question - I have had this side affect as have many people I know when they have gone on diet pills or had fat-absorber pills from their doctor - they are all well known to cause this oily diarrhea

If you felt sick after drinking it... then it makes sense that what you drank is now coming out the other side... Regardless, it has nothing to do with the diet... just simple chemistry - what goes in must come out

I have a brother who is 10 years younger than me, and when he was born he had a bowel problem and was unable to pass a bowel movement on his own. We had to give him 3 tablespoons of mineral oil a day, and as a result, he had the same thing you are describing. I wouldn't panic over it. It could be a side effect of ingesting too much oil.
