    sugar in veggies

I noticed on the label of broc and califlower there are a few grams of sugar per cup, is this okay? How much sugar are you allowed?

    Re: sugar in veggies

There should be no sugar in the list of ingredients. Sugars listed under 'Carbohydrates' are just that - carbs. Don't worry about them. Just take the total carbs - fibre to get net carbs.
Disclaimer: the net carb calc applies to the US and Canada - label laws elsewhere are different!

      Re: sugar in veggies

As JulieB said ... it's most likely the naturally occurring "sugar" in the vegetable.

As long as the list of ingredients doesn't contain sugar, that is.

What's the list of ingredients??? If it's just "broccoli" or "cauliflower", then there's no added sugar.

I presume that "sugar" is the carbohydrate (sugar) in the vegetable.

Make sure you read Chapter 19 in your DANDR ... it might be helpful.

            Re: sugar in veggies

If it is the normal sugar that "grows" in the vegetable then you count the net carbs. Thats it. Be careful with any veggies with a sauce on them though.
