    Re: never satisfied

i read that : The spillage of excess ketones in the urine disappears on the low-carbohydrate diet after the body becomes accustomed to using dietary fats for energy instead of glucose. This usually occurs within a few weeks on the diet. :

the reason i recommended 6+ months was cause i knew there was cultures of people who breast feed in ketosis eskimos for example and there all healthy and that is really good results a whole race of people and i said 6 months cause i thought for sure by then no way ketones would be spilling out

but if the Bellevue Hospital experiment, where acetone bodies were present in the urine for the whole time the subjects followed the diet (the whole experiment lasted for over a year). was this experiment done properly? if it was then somethings not quite what i thought i guess maybe the eskimos diet is alot different animal organs and stuff so its different does anyone know if eskimos spill ketones? or any other people who been on low carb ketosis for along time that spill ketones still?

maybe i should test it on myself but im not sure how xD

Did the eskimo diet put everyone in lifelong ketosis? I'm fairly sure they ate a consistent diet rich in proteins (from hunting, fishing, etc.), but I can't remember everything Dr. Atkins said about the eskimos.

        Re: never satisfied

im not sure if it was life long for all of them but some only have fish and seals to eat and maybe some penguins or something but with just that they would always be in ketosis then i think

Stefansson 1 - Eskimos Prove An All Meat Diet Provides Excellent Health.

theres a story about a guy who whent and lived with the eskimos and ate just fish and maybe seals too and had good health but they eat everything even the bones of the fish so they get calcium and they dont over cook the fish cause over cooking it destroys the little bit of Vitamin C i think

          >>maybe some penguins>>

Eskimos don't eat penguins. Penguins are a Southern hemisphere animal.

i thought the inuit don't cook their food, meat or fish because there is nothing to make a fire with. they don't exactly have an abundance of trees and at least for centuries they were a nomadic people

that is a good point though. their diet is carb free. they live n animal protin and nothing else. unless they adapted over generations and no longer g into ketosis

note: i am breast-feeding, though my baby is nearly weaned, eating most solid food now. i am doing this diet with the knowledge, approval, and at the suggestion of my doctor and having done my homework. i will not discuss the matter in any of my posts. please don't bring it up.

              Re: never satisfied

Before you believe that Eskimos eat a "carb free" diet, you might want to do some research on what Eskimos actually eat ... not just take the observations of a 1906 explorer who is being quoted on a website (biblelife.org) that has an agenda.

              For example:

The Straight Dope: Traditionally Eskimos ate only meat and fish. Why didn't they get scurvy?

              This is interesting reading, too:

                Re: never satisfied

i read up about them a few years ago.is it research no, but i earned a few things it said they didn't get scurvey because eating the meat raw providd a wealth of nutrients that otherwise are lost in cooking

in certain areas, not all of them had it available. i am talking abouot those who did nt.

even if they did though, when not in seasn, and remember its a looong dark winder up there, they would be on a protien diet for many many mnths of the year, enough to go into ketosis and get it in the breastmilk.
atkinsgal8, this is not a debate, its a conversation. perhaps i am misreading you since one cannot tell tone from text but your posts seem kind of hostile, combative. i feel like i'm being interrogated. whats up?
