Re: I can hardly find any Low Carb anything in Jacksonville Fl

Oh, yeah and go eat lunch...
Do you want a solution, or do you want me to tell you what you want to hear, which is what kept you the way you are.

It is unfortunate you feel you were jumped on, but this is a place to get help on how to follow Atkins the best way for the best results. The moderators are not going to help you find low carb ice cream and chocolate. Georgiana gives straight, excellent, informed answers and information. If that makes you feel jumped all over, I am sorry, I have to say you need to rethink, and appreciate what she has told you and the manner she has given it. Also, She does not need defending, I am complimenting her.

It seems to me you have "jumped all over her" because she said things you don't want to hear.

        >>If it is low carb or zero carb then what is the difference.>>

        Quality matters.

Junk food is junk food ... plain and simple.

And if I'm going to have a dessert, I will take the time to make my own ... less chemicals, more quality ... and it tastes better.

Ah. There it is. I was wondering what it was after the inappropriately defensive and nasty-toned response you wrote to advice given 100% in-line with the philosophy of this support group. Like power lifting you think you know what you're doing when it comes to low carb so no one can tell you differently.

Did you ever stop during your mad craving dash to all the grocery stores in a ten mile radius from your residence for not only low-carb ice cream, but in the flavor you wanted, to wonder just exactly WHY those products are gone? Because the consumer demand wasn't there. Why do you suppose that is?

As far as being "too busy" to throw a zip-lock bag full of heavy cream and sugar free pudding mix/flavoring in your freezer and wait an hour or so? There are people here who work full time and go to school part time and have children and/or husband/wife to eat up what little time is left in their day yet still manage to prepare every meal and snack and dessert that passes between their lips. Yeah. You're right. You're "too busy". Talk about something I'm sick and tired of. You make time for the things you want to do in this life. Period.

Re: I can hardly find any Low Carb anything in Jacksonville Fl

I'm inching my way to goal weight. But yeah, I haven't had a quiche in ages! That sounds so good. We had a couple of deaths in the family along with the holidays. Sometimes I was just eating to maintain. I am jumping up and down though cause I've never known how to eat and maintain before. No more double orders for me! Hunger hasn't reared it ugly head cause I always watch how much of what I eat. Its so worth it to see people that haven't seen me in awhile have their eyes pop out of their head when they see the improved me. I can live without the tv dinners. At first it was a lot harder for me, going up the rungs and having more choices really makes a huge difference. And knowing if I eat this and that, I'm never going to feel full later helps keep me in line too. But I really feel for the people having troubles early into this way of eating. I see how much I changed, but I know how long it took me to get to where I am. I was the one trying to see what I could get away with and trying to fit a round peg into a square hole. For all the newbies, we aren't crazy or brainwashed, this way of eating and controlling your hunger just ends up making people into fans over time!

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

                1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
                2nd mini goal: 140!
                3rd mini goal:135!
                4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

A power lifter that doesn't squat, deadlift, and brags about his leg press. I find that odd. Not to stir the pot but dude follow your own diet, or follow Atkins. Don't come to a board asking for advice about how to follow the Atkins diet, when you want to follow your own diet. That is just silly.

Re: I can hardly find any Low Carb anything in Jacksonville Fl

I'm sensitive to eggs, they give me horrible gas. I occasionally sneak in a hard boiled one. But some things like quiche, I tend to go over my limit on. I find I like certain things a certain way. Some are not Atkins friendly and never will be. Many of the recipes cost a bit to prepare. That's no big deal if I want to cut off my cable and internet. But I honestly won't do that! Cost is a major factor, my kids being picky eaters is another. Also what is available locally factors into my choices. Not many of the recipes really tempt me enough to get me to try them. There are very few foods I am tempted by. One of the things I want to learn to make is a legal cheesecake! The illegal foods I've had occasionally are hamburgers with buns (I mostly toss the buns on them anyway), Pizza Hut pizza, and fried chicken livers. These things aren't something I have often or even have bad cravings for anymore. And when I get to maintenance, I expect I may have them a couple of times a year. The foods I use to find so appealing don't really interest me much any more. I don't have a desire for foods I haven't already tried. But I know exactly what Carter's fried chicken livers taste like and what a super supreme pan pizza tastes like. Oddly if I had to choose between one pizza hut pizza a year and 10 frozen pizza's in a year, I'd take the one pizza from pizza hut. In the end that's mostly what I've done. Unless I love love love it, I don't bother having its carbs!

This one is great, at least in my opinion and my family. My whole extended family ate this for dessert at Thanksgiving and loved it!
