    I thought I was doing o.k. until I entered my food intake for today into the FitDay tracker? My ratio is 69f/25p/6c with a total of approx. 2440 cal. !!!!!!!! I started off with 3 scrambled eggs with 1 c. of tomato and gr. onion. Had an avocado with 1 c. iceberg lettuce....1 c. tomato....2 sticks celery...gr. onion. And for dinner I marked down 8 oz. of beef roast ( i'm hungry ) meds do it to me....and about 1 1/2 c. cauliflower. The roast alone came up to 927 cal. my gawd.....I thought I was safe with the protein?

    What am I doing wrong? First day and I'm already frustrated

    Why do you think you're doing anything wrong?

    Do you have 20 net carbs?

    Are most of them from Induction vegetables?

    About the only thing I can see that's "wrong" is that you had a whole avocado ... the limit is 1/2.

    However, I don't think that the other 1/2 avocado will be harmful.

    If you're worried about the calories ... stop.

    Eating 10-12 times your current weight in calories is good. You want to eat enough ... both calories and carbs.

    None of your rations seem odd.

      Thanks Atkinsgirl.......I just got frustrated when I looked at the calories....wowwwwww. My biggest challenge will be drinking water.....anything for that matter. I usually only have 2 coffee in the a.m. and then maybe 3 glasses of water for the day. I know.....not good. Working on it. And the avocado...yeah....1/2 is enough....too rich for me to handle. Just a little worried that my idea of eating 6 eggs a day might be overdoing it?

        Well, 6 is certainly a lot!

        I normally eat 2 1/2 or 3. There have been times I've had 6 though. I just wouldn't do it on a regular basis ... not because there's anything wrong with it ... it's just rather limiting.

        Umm ... water. Water is so important. You need it to flush the toxins and other junk out of your system.

        You need it to keep your body hydrated.

        And ... drinking 1/2 your current weight in ounces of water ... well, that works for many.

        Atkins isn't about counting calories ... unless you're not getting enough!

        How many net carbs did you have today? (on Fitday, you have to look at the chart below where you entered your food)

          I don't think I would normally eat 6 eggs.....but I might just cuz they are easily at hand if I get hungry....lol It looks like I was at about 21 netcarbs just over the top...but the avocado certainly did that I see. I need to just relax a bit and experiment with different ideas for meals.

          Great advice....it helps.

            If you get hungry ... vegetables are good, too!

              The only problem I'd see with eating a lot of eggs is you might get bored of them. Or sick of them like I did...I'm not crazy about eggs for breakfast anymore, but I still have one now and then.

              Have you seen Linda's Low Carb recipes? The recipes with an asterisk are the ones suitable for induction. You mentioned you'd be experimenting, so there might be some recipes in there you'd like.

                  Don't worry - calories will not hurt you at this point. Just get into the programme.

                    your 69% fat , 25% protein , 6% carbs % is good it doesnt have to be 100% spot on 65% , 30% 5%

                    and i eat 6 eggs everyday about

                        For your first day your calories and ratios are reasonable. Calories eventually count, but not where you are right now. Just keep refreshing yourself on the Induction "rules of engagement" and stick to them like a mouse in a glue trap. If everything goes as it should and your prescriptions don't foul you too much, the appetite suppression aspect will result in both your hunger and calories dropping over time.

                          you're doing fine. youre within your carb limit. relax. dont count calriees calories
                          i'm 25 years old, mom of two, ready to do this once and for all!
                          note: i am breast-feeding, though my baby is nearly weaned, eating most solid food now. i am doing this diet with the knowledge, approval, and at the suggestion of my doctor and having done my homework. i will not discuss the matter in any of my posts. please don't bring it up.
