Re: patient no more... getting frustrated

I think if I were to offer a "let's try" to your menu... I would add carbs in the form of fresh vegetables. I see tomatoes and broccoli, but I'm thinking at this stage in Atkins I should be eating a lot more vegetables, higher on the rungs including berries, a lot more than 20 carbs, a lot more fiber... anything to help the body find balance and just good nutrition. Just a few thoughts... and congrats on your weight loss! I can't wait to get to Onederland myself

wooo hoo not a stalled atkinseer afterall.

Dr Atkins defined stalls are 4 weeks no inches nor pounds lost for good reason so just keep working your Atkins as you morph your body to become that healthier smaller you.

Re: patient no more... getting frustrated

I am not an expert at OWL but I genuinely do not think you are eating enough calories or enough carbs. If you are 43 years old, 180 pounds, and let's say an average of 5'4" and even moderately active, you need 2,273 calories per day. You're not eating anywhere near that and are probably more active. [ Calculator ]

The point of OWL is to add carbs back in so that you can maintain on a wide variety of foods over the course of your whole life. I think most people would struggle to stick with 20 carbs a day until the end of eternity.

Are you afraid to go over 20 carbs, or are you just trying to hack the diet and figuring induction level carbs must mean faster weight loss?

Were I you, I'd be inclined to try a week of 60/30/10 at a higher calorie level appropriate for your height, weight and activity level and see if things budged.

Re: patient no more... getting frustrated

even revised my diet and started to use a program that counts every calorie and carb i eat..and even keeping the carb count low 20g or less.
some folk are not reading the words in the OP. she said she was trying to bust what she believed to be a stall by cutting her carbs back under 20 not that she had been eating under 20 the whole time.
Now that she knows she isn't stalled cause she was shedding inches ( something important we need to ask all folk who think they are stalled to check)she can go back to where she was in her OWL eating and resume morphing her body to the healtheir smaller version she is working on doing her Atkins.

I too was stuck in the 180s for two to three months, and I can totally understand your frustration. Fortunately though, sounds like you've been building muscle mass, so keep up the good work!

Cottage cheese has 6 carbs per1/2 cup. Not worth it, except on occasion. Skip the macademias for a week, and drink more water, see what happens.

Yep WOOO HOOO for you keep shrinking.

remeber nobody sees those scale numbers unless you tattoo them on your forhead but they will see the smaller healtheir you walking in the room so show off that smaller you and keep working your atkins just the way you were. when the inches and pounds both stop changing for the betteer then it is time to tweak your plan.

Are you sure? What kind of cottage cheese is that? Looks really carby.

Thanks 2Big.. Really nice point... and yep.. that is what they are seeing.. I recently started doing core training.. and ohh my gosh what a wonderful feeling it is to feel strong from center of your being. you walk different and you feel different.. and you feel ... strong... this is THE best thing i have ever done for myself.. and to think there are still people that doubt Atkins and say that its not good for you. How can THIS, NOT be Good??? you know.. I just want to go and shout it from the mountain tops .. I know the secret to feel Amazing! To all of you who get frustrated and have moments of weakness.. keep going, keep working at it... because it really does pay off! Through this whole thing.. i let the scales kind of take over... and it can also get you down.. wise people on here helped me to realize that those number do not define what is happening to me.. my clothes and and how I feel are enough to let me know i am doing It, despite what that number says..

Re: patient no more... getting frustrated

                            Hi Lacypie,

i think that u received some wonderful coments from the group and that u have been doing really great even if the numbers on the scale aren't chiming in just now. Here are some things that i've noticed for me, if you or anyone else can identify w/ them maybe it will be helpful:

-I've noticed a pattern in my weightloss - i only lose weight about one week after TOM > sometimes it's a great big whoosh, other times less so depending on how much exercise, H2O tracking, and of course squeaky cleanness of the WOE has been going on. I tend to gain a little about 5 days prior to TOM but it comes off and thensome soon after. (VERY frustrated when TOM is late coz it takes longer for the scale to budge).
                            - Sometimes my body is sensitive to salt and retains water and holds onto more lbs, esp prior to TOM, but also some cheeses have higher Sodium levels than others and even tho i generally am strict w/ the oz's of cheese, i find i need to look at the salt levels too. ( Also somedays i just eat saltier foods > adding a little too much salt when i cook or even just cucmber sticks w/ salt as a snack) This throws off my weight, but it works itself out eventually.
-i'm not sure if you are on any sort of medication, but even if you take a painkiller occasionally it can throw off the numbers > for some people.

i love what 2big said about the only person knowing the numbers on the scale is you ...how true...if you are losing inches you are certainly losing weight, and it's probably showing...but it maybe a while till the numbers kick in.

Bottom line: Start 2 know your body's patterns and sensitvities and work from there, keep on track, you're doing really well... we are each individuals w/ our own food preferences and responses to those foods...but basically this WOE works for most, some faster (especially for men > not fair but they don't have those monthly hormone issues) some not as fast, others, choppy and sporadically.

There is a sticky somewhere about weightloss not being linear which lends some really good perspective to some of these issues, here is the link:

I am a pay it forward kind of person, and love to be of any help to anyone .. even people on the street, friends and family.. i tell them how i do it and where i go for support. and how many other outlets that we have at our finger tips online... sometimes all I do all day is search for anything I can find about low carb. eat sleep and breath .. low carb... I am sure i am not alone in that muse.
