The Fat Fast (The Atkins Fat Fast) article @ CarbSmart.com
Are you sure it is this thread where you wanted to post that link? I think your intention was to post it here instead:
In any case, the information about the Fat Fast in that article is not good information. I won't discuss the whole article here because I don't want to hijack this thread, but this is a REALLY bad suggestion: "used by many low carbers (myself among them) to break a weight loss plateau or as a means of forcing themselves to get back on track when they have gone off-plan.""Get action. Re: Wanting to give up!
Follow the book, you might assume that if you do this plan with less, you will lose more but that isn't the case. Veggies are very important to this and a variety of them is the healthy answer. While lettuce and mushrooms are fine, they are vitamin poor, while broccoli, cauliflower etc. are nutrient rich. NOT TO Mention you need the fiber for one of the problems of induction ie constipation. Nothing worse.
Don't make this hard on yourself because if you do, you might give it up. Enjoy the foods, be glad that one option is not hunger, and just know that the good Dr knew what he was talking about and all the folks here who are at goal did so by doing it his way.

Re: Wanting to give up!
Do you mean celery root... or just celery? Celery is very low in carbs, too. It's a salad vegetable.Originally posted by Short44907 View PostI would appreciate some broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, ect....
Why would you think that?then I will move on to incorporating her meals- for now I just don't trust them to not stall my weight loss

Re: Wanting to give up!
I just felt there was too many cheeses and vegetable in those induction menus, but after reading what everyone was saying about nutrient-rich veggies I think I can do it. Thank you all so much for replying. It is the beginning of day 4 and I already feel so much better! I think day 3 was just my hump day and it will be easier now. The cravings hit me bad yesterday and I've never felt so weak! Thanks again for all of your support! I owe you all BIG TIME!Originally posted by Georgiana View PostDo you mean celery root... or just celery? Celery is very low in carbs, too. It's a salad vegetable.

Re: Wanting to give up!
Hi,
If you plugged your vegetables into a fit day menu, I'd bet you'd have a very low amount of net carbs due to veggie intake.
I know people here are in two camps when it comes to the vegetables for Atkins induction. You stick to the 3 cup salad/two cup salad 1 cup of other acceptable veggies, or you eat count your carbs and eat veggies so that when you add up everything your net carb is 20 or less.
Sometimes I go by the cup rule, and then sometimes I try to eat as close to 20 net carbs in veggies.
For instance my fitday menu on Monday was:
Breakfast:
3 large eggs
1 oz cheese (shredded at home)
1 green onion stalk chopped
4 pieces of nitrate free bacon
Lunch
3 chicken thighs baked with wine/1 tablespoon of chinese fire chili sauce grated ginger in olive oil.
Salad consisting of: 1 cup of spinach, 2 grape tomatoes sliced thinly, cheese 1 green onion stalk chopped
Homemade ranch dressing 2 tbsp
Dinner
2 portabella mushrooms cooked with: scallions, 4 oz of hamburger meat with a slice of red pepper, 1 green pepper stalk chopped, with melted cheese
1 cup of broccoli.
My calories were: 1902
Carbs: 24.5
Fiber: 6 grams
So my net carbs for the day were 18.5 carbs with most of my carbs coming from the vegetables.

This chili garlic sauce is awesome! I get it from an Asian supermarket.

I made up this recipe when I wanted something spicy, but sweet. I freeze the ginger so it's easy to grate onto the chicken!
