  • Induction Diet for 1 year

Has anyone ever done an extended induction for one year or more than 6 months.

What were the results? Did there come a point when you reached your goal and continued induction? Did you body just stop losing weight at some point?

I did almost 6 months exteneded induction and did great. I moved to OWL cause I wanted different foods that are not induction legal.

Kent did extended induction for a long time and did very well. His posts should still be here for you to check out.

I'll have to look at that posts.

I was thinking of doing it for about 3-4 months. But I was curious what the records is lol.

So far, I don't find it that hard to stick to. But I haven't been tempted much either.

some folk do it and then go off on a binge cause they get board with the foods. reread chapter 13 of your DANDR and keep asking yourself those questions and when you answer yes tio wanting more variety move to OWL. if you like fresh berries then you want to move so you are on rung 4 by the time strawberry season arrives.

Dr Atkins says those who work all the phases have the best chance of being life long goalies so don't spend all you time in the basement working on the induction foundation and ignore the framing and roofing of your Atkins house of eating cause nobody survies in just a basement for very long when those high carb foods come knocking.

You shouldn't be looking for a "record".

There's no advantage to staying in Induction longer than you should.

I plan on staying on it for a while. I have no urge to add in more carbs from veggies, nuts, berries etc at this point. If that changes I will start the rungs. For now I'm completely satisfied on induction.

Yes I still have a minimum of 36 lbs probably closer to 45lbs to go and I came in on the low-normal side of metabolic resistance after induction. So for now I think induction is where I need to be.

I have no cravings and I don't want to add things in at this point. I'm happy to be where I am, even though thanks to an extended TOM the weight isn't dropping much at all. I know it will eventually.

You should lose all but about 5-10 pounds of those 45 on OWL.

Re: Induction Diet for 1 year

TOM= time of the month. Trying not to be too blunt for those not wanting too much info. LOL

I had one early this month like normal then another started about a week after I started this WOE and it's refusing to go away. I'm hoping when it finally does my weight loss will start up again because when it started, my weight loss pretty much stopped.

But I'm fine with it going slow, I'm in this for the long haul so wether it comes off fast or slow it will come off eventually.

Even if I just stay on induction for the next 5-10 lbs that could be months. I really don't want to add anymore food in. I have a hard time eating now. My appetite is gone. I make myself eat properly (for atkins) because I know my body needs it to lose but could easily go all day with nothing but water. Even preparing food doesn't make me want to eat it.

Sorry. I guess I should have figured that one out! You mentioned staying on Induction.....if you stayed on Induction for a couple of months wouldn't you almost HAVE to lose more than 10 to 15 lbs??

                              Not necessarily.

It depends on how much one has to lose.

Many people stay on Induction too long thinking they will lose more ... and if they don't, they become afraid to move to OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss) ... being fearful that if they can't lose on Induction, the won't lose on OWL.

They miss the point of OWL ... and of Induction.
