  • Fresh green beans

Ok so I thought green beans were allowed but I am getting conflicts on the internet. I ate about 15 last night sauteed in olive oil and herbs.

And I was going to eat about the same tonight with my ribs.

Does anyone have a good site for accurate carb amounts? I checked 5 sites for net carbs in fresh green beans and it ranged from 2-12.

If you're going by the number, there will be a difference in number of carbs according to whether the beans are fat or skinny, long,or shorter, very young or older.

And I can't not eat them because it will be WW III in our house and one of us will end up leaving. Frick Frick Frick Frick!!!! Looks like I am going carnivore only tomorrow & tuesday to try to make up for it. Frick! No one yell at me please.

They are allowed. I wouldn't look for the list of Acceptable Foods on the internet... you can find the list of Induction veggies on pages 125 and 126 of 2002 DANDR, or on this site.

Here is a link to Acceptable Foods:

            I haven't seen any yelling.

In my opinion, it does not make sense to skip veggies for the next 2 days to make up for sugar you eat today. If you feel that you can't stick to plan today, I wouldn't deprive myself of required foods full of fiber and nutrients tomorrow and the next day. How does that help?

It helps you weren't the Atkins police yelling at me! Thank you, makes me feel better not being judged because I have a husband who has no common sense that I don't eat brown sugar on ribs anymore.

I just assumed, depending out how much he put on them (after he started and saw I asked him to make it extremely minimal) that it would kick me out of ketosis. I was in ketosis this morning via the stick. So I assumed by Tuesday I would be out. I'll stick with the plan tomorrow, but if the scale goes up and my stick is negative I will have to take a drastic measure to get back in it. I've been in ketosis for 5 days now so I'd like to keep it that way. ****Crossing fingers****

                Re: Fresh green beans

You have not, I was just waiting for a certain few. I have been trying to get back on the induction (since 1/31) so I could start onto OWL by Wednesday. I limited my cheese as instructed and have not been consuming alcohol. I have not given up coffee and apparently creamer is bad too. I didn't give that up either. Other than that I have tried really hard to follow all the DANDR for 5-6 days now. It's been a loss of 5 lbs in less than 2 weeks. I find that pretty good considering the fact I am a normal BMI and my weight loss is going to be slower than others.

I just felt a little defeated with what my husband did. But I was ready for people to tell me not to eat it because it will be the kiss of death and it would be a week before I could get back on track. My husband is preparing dinner and so I will eat it. He ate my low carb meal last night so I can't reject his meal. Anyway, the rest is for Dr. Phil

You are right about the sticks though. I had never used them before and had great success but I am experimenting with them, that's all.

Keeping up with the plan was a great advice. I've just decided everybody has set backs, whether planned or not and I won't let this get to me, just like my daughter's b-day party. Just get back on the plan and do what works for you, and it will be alright. My goal and mind set has not waivered so why would I let a few ribs with brown sugar do it? Life's too short for me to worry about that when I know I can get right back on the plan and I am proud of my success so far.

You really had great advice since that is what I needed to hear instead of beating myself up.

Yes, I am now aware. That's why I deleted my post, with the reason being "I was wrong." I have also sent a PM to Jax, explaining my error.

I'm sorry I read that wrong, and made that post. Apologies to all!

                        Re: Fresh green beans

Getting back to green beans. 1) I found some at Trader Joes that were fried like potato chips. They had sugar so I didn't buy them, but I've never seen that before.

                        2) I love fried green beans, Just heat some olive oil and add some garlic and fry. The little thin baby green beans work the best. They are delicious

                          Re: Fresh green beans

FitDay says fresh green beans are 4 net carbs per cup (8 g carb, 4 g fibre) and that sounds good to me. I love fresh stirfried green beans nummy!!! Enjoy!!!

As to the ribs, I would think if you didn't pour extra sauce on your serving you'd be ok. I had ham on Christmas that had been glazed, just took a slice that looked like it had minimal glaze, ate around it. I don't consider that to be a cheat and didn't cause problems with ketosis nor cravings. But please don't deny yourself veggies over the next couple days. That's bad for your metabolism. Aim for balance and good health.

I used a mustard sauce from Sonny's....it's all I had to use, last time I looked it had 4 grams net carbs unk sugar though.

The ribs were soooo yummy and I are them all. I think I had the equivelant to 1/2 cup yesterday and I ate none at dinner.

I am sticking with the plan tomorrow. Just crossing fingers i don't gain weight tomorrow. It was 142.4 yesterday and the same today.

Mitzi & I are fine!!! I asked for forgivness too. And no I wasn't being sarcastic.

Here's to tomorrow and I hope like heck I can get to OWL this week.
