    Re: Mild Earthquake Western-Chicago-Suburbs Today

The "city" where the "earthquakes" occur is a four hour drive from where I live called Dryden, Ontario. I also have to say that for once I am really enjoying watching everyone else digging out. This is the kind of snow we get here on a regular basis. I usually go to Walmart. It is the best time to go. No one is around, and because we are used to this kind of weather, our snowplows go all night, and by 7am the main roads are plowed. At Christmas we had a huge snowfall overnight and it took me 2 hours just to shovel our decks in the back. The driveway took around 3 hours. Everyone just make sure to not over do it. Up here we call this "heart attack" weather as there is a big increase of heart attacks due to snow shovelling. I make sure I take frequent breaks.

I live north of Rockford in Rockton IL and yes i felt it too. It's funny cause I had to go to the bathroom and for some reason I looked at the clock and it was 3:56 a.m. I went back to bed and the cat came running in like a bat out of **** and a minute later I heard a rumble (kind of thought it was a snowplow going by) and the bed shook. First I thought I was going to throw up pea soup and my head would spin like on the Excorsist. Of course in the morning it was confirmed that it was an earthquake.

        Hi Rockton!

I am glad you mentioned the cat..."they" always say animals feel it before it happens or something like that. So thanks for a first hand account of your cat freaking out! I was always curious about that.

I am in Kane County east of DeKalb.

              Thanks Suzanne,

Funny thing is...I am leaving for CA for a 2-4 week visit to see my hubby, and to look for a home for our eventual permanent move.

What's the expression, jumping from the kettle to the fire...???LOL

And those tornadoes are a little scary as well...we get our share here, but not as bad as you I think.
