  • Hooked on Atkins bars

OWL Rung 1, 13 lbs lost, started mid January? I have it written down.

I just started eating the Atkins bars. The caramel peanut-y chocolate one is my fav. But getting right to the point does anyone think that eating one every day (only once a day) could potentially sabotage my weight loss? I was the type of person who literally had to eat something sweet after every meal and just knowing that I can have one of those every day or every other day makes Atkins WOL that much easier for someone with a serious sweet tooth like myself. Thanks

    Absolutely.

    They stall many.

One of the purposes of Induction was to get rid of your craving for "sweet".

All you're doing now is feeding your dragon ... and it's winning. The best thing you could do for yourself is to not have these.

You won't overcome your "sweet tooth" by eating these ... and they're likely to sabotage you even more.

See, I really can't answer that question without prejudice. I think one in your lifetime will sabotage your diet. !) They are not on the acceptable list, hence not induction legal. 2) I have read to many posts from to many folks who complained they stalled out their weight loss. 3) THey are probably not good for you at all as they have stuff we can't even pronounce.
Saying that, I'm sure there are lots of folks who love them and find them no problem to losing, so we will never know which category you will fall in. I do know that most folks get the best results from following induction to the letter and getting rid of that sweet tooth.

The fact you are this far in and craving sweets daily means you are off track. Your sweet tooth should have died long ago. Do you really want to keep it going even if it doesn't affect your weight loss? By keeping that craving active you are setting yourself up for cheating and giving into temptation, eventually the bars probably won't satisfy you and you'll go looking for something else that does.

Cut out the bars, get through the few rough days you'll have and you'll start seeing the results you want to. You can do it, good luck

I am afraid they are right. Until you really give up sweet tastes for several weeks, you will never conquer your sweet tooth. If you do go without for a couple of weeks you will be amazed how sweet other things taste when you try them again. You need to reset your palate.

You know, you are exactly right. I've been back on Atkins for almost 2 months now and it's amazing how sweet some things taste.

              Re: Hooked on Atkins bars

During different times of the month I find they slow me down or speed me up. I don't think it's fair for anyone to be judging why you want one. The idea I've been hearing is that carb addiction is lifelong, and some of us have to fight it harder than others.

Either way, I honestly don't mind the stall if it keeps me from going completely off the diet. I can enjoy one of the Atkins peanut butter cups like it's a meal and it's much better than going off the diet. I say good job - you know what works for you and you have the freedom to make those choices!

Assuming you are "hooked on Atkins bars" as your title suggests, I would avoid them. Sweet substitutes or snack substitutes are one of those slippery slopes for many. If your weight loss, thus far, is important to you, break the sweet tasting habit.
