  • Exercise and losing weight

I completed 2 months of induction and the total loss is about 14 pounds. The problem now is that I cannot seem to lose any more and I wondered if it is because I am doing a mix of weight and cardio training up to 3 times a week but always a minimum of twice. I am now in OWL but am pretty sure my carb intake is not much above induction-to be honest I do not weigh anything but do not knowlingly cheat! I have only added some berries and slightly more veg. Can anyone advise on the exercise side of life? Do I need to do fat-burning exercise or is it normal for me to gain 100-200g one week and then lose only that amount the following week? Is it the case if I stopped doing weight training and only did fat-burning that I would lose more?

I remain a fan of the diet but expect to lose say 1-2 pounds per week-is this realistic?

I would appreciate any advice and thanks in advance

OK trying to look through your post I am assuming that is kilos in your signature
I think the stage where you are at is a very normal one. We do see a bit of stall after induction. We tend to call it PISS (post induction stall syndrome) but weight will come off again.
What kind of exercise do you do? How long? How hard?

If you had to choose only one, which would you rather lose: weight or inches?

Did you add the berries in rung 4 or earlier?

If you don't know your carb level, I'm not sure how you're going to determine your CCLL.

It's also impossible to troubleshoot without knowing how much you're eating.

It would not have been realistic for me.

It's better not to "expect" to lost X pounds per week. I had weeks and even months with no weight loss.

To be honest I need to accurately record the number of berries and the amount of extra veg because I am not doing so at the moment. I would not be satisfied with long periods without losing because there are other diets out there that would provide a better weight loss rate. Thanks very much for your reply.

Many thanks. The exercise is typically; 30 min swim without stopping or a mix of cardio and weights e.g 10 min cross trainer interval training, 1000m row, 50 levels on the stepper and then about 20 mins abs and upper body work. MY heart rate gets up to about 160-170. How does that sound? My theory is that I am building muscle and that is not helping weight loss at all?

                Re: Exercise and losing weight

So you should measure inches instead. I workout quite a bit for a while and I did not lose any weight for months but I got leaner - lost lots of sizes. You want to keep and build up your lean body mass - it will increase your metabolism in the long rung. So maybe pay less attention to scale of a bit and more to the body.

You've really got that backwards. Who cares what the scale says if you are a physically smaller version of your old self?

                    No, it's not realistic.

Having expectations of what your body will do isn't realistic.

                    >>To be honest I need to accurately record the number of berries and the amount of extra veg because I am not doing so at the moment.>>

Yep. Actually, I would suggest you count the carbs in everything you're eating ... so you know where you are.

Thanks for that it does make sense. Although this past week I lost 0.8 KG and I am sure it is because I have been weighing the fruit I added

Fruit??? Not a great choice for something to eat on a low carb diet. Personally I would not lose weight and eat fruit

Yep Atkins is a diet but one I could live with for the rest of my life-I do not think of it as a quick fix. Thanks for the reply and my scales are now used much more oftem to weigh food!!
